Thank you for your extensive web site report. I found in your database, a
Vincens Carr who married a Rachel Wright in 1817, Sussex County. I have a
Vincent Carr who married a Rachel Wright 12 April 1817, Sussex County. I
have three children of Vincent and Rachel but do not have any dates for them.
Nor do I know Vincent's parentage. I was wondering if you have this
information? I will share with you what I have on Vincent's children and
grandchildren.

I am really stumped on the numerous CARR families of Nj. Originally I
thought our Carr's were from Orange Co. SInce ours settled on NJ?NY
border. But now I think they are from NJ - coming up from either Bergen Co,
Passaic Co or Morris Co and that direction.
I have a Vincens Carr who married Rachel Wright in 1817 in Wantage, Sussex
Co.. Their son Joseph named one son Vincent, one James Lorenzo, one David
and one Joseph Edsall, another Milton.
Other persons who lived nearby from census..were Sylvester, Morris, Joseph,
David, Peter and
others.
Do any of these names sound familiar. How does your line ascend? Thanks.

I have a Joseph and Mary Carr, both born in PA, living in Burlington Co, NJ
in 1850 census. Joseph is a bricklayer, per 1850 NJ Census, with two other
adults and a teenager living with him besides his wife. Could be related to
David Carr, b abt 1825 Pa. and Samuel Carr, b abt 1827 Pa. David living in
Chester, NJ, and Samuel in Mt Holly, NJ in 1850 census.
There were quite a few Carrs in Bergen Co area at the time of the Revolution.
I'm not sure if they are descendants of the Quaker Carrs of Burlington Co,
Carrs who violated the Quaker religion and joined the Revolution, took up
arms and abandoned their faith. I suspect this, but haven't proven it to
date. I don't have your Vincens or Vincent in my records, but I've added
them. Do you have approx dobs for these folks? What sources have you used to
establish this family association? Census?
The Carrs of NJ are indeed quite a challenge. Religion is often a key. If
they are Catholics, they tend to come from Newark and NY and are Irish. If
they are Quakers, they probably have their roots in Shrewsbury, NJ (Monmouth
Co) and/or Burlington Co, NJ. Their origins are probably Rhode Island,
either via Long Island, NY State or NJ. The protestants in the bunch seem to
be English settlers of various origins, not from big families that swarm the
countryside like the others seem to, rather individuals, even orphans at
times. I have found considerable movement between eastern PA, NY and western
and southern NJ during this period. It was a time of Indian lands of the
Wyoming area of eastern PA, with Quaker missionaries cutting the trails and
others following.

Hi;
I have been trying to find a connection between this Morris Carr and my
Vincent Carr and don't think there is one. According to Morris's deathrec.
recorded in Vernon, his father was John Carr. I (only Think) ..can't
prove...that
this John Carr married Amy Armstrong in Orange Co., NY. Morris is in Orange
Co.
for some census and Vernon later on. Let me check back in my records and
see if
I can find more and get back. Mary
