Hello list subscribers;
This morning, I received a message from a lady that could not have come at
a better time. She apologized for subscribing twice.
For some time now, I have noticed that subscription notices will cross my
desk that say...already subscribed.
Now, I am almost as new at this as some of you, so I just ignored them,
thinking it was the persnickety INTERNET or whatever.
Lately, all of the lists have been slow and for many different reasons.
Brian & Karen are still working with the archives, trying to make it all
better for all of us, and sometimes, that involves holding messages back
for a day or two.
Other times, there can be power outages that hold our messages in the thin
air??? OK, so I really do not know why things get slow. There are even
times when a message floats somewhere in the air for a week and no one
knows why.
Lately, there has not been much activity on some of the lists and then it
seems to surge.
IMPORTANT: Because I had a large rash of "already subscribed" messages
cross my desk, I went to the teckkie guys and this is what I learned:
Sometimes, people subscribe to mailing lists and do not know anything
about how they work unless I tell them.
However, with over 2000 + persons subscribed to my lists, it is not always
possible to tell everyone every thing all of the time.
If you are new, there is a mailing list called, NEWBIE-L or NEWBY-L that
you may want to join until you are feeling more secure. As I understand it,
you are not only allowed to make dumb mistakes, you are also allowed and
encouraged to ask dumb questions.
Other than that, this is a new guideline that I am proposing...
NOTE: THIS IS THE POINT OF THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE.....
If you want to know if you are still subscribed to the list, and you are
thinking about resubscribing, remember, when you resubscribe, the list
always sends me a notice that a person is subscribing who is already on the
list.
SO...instead of subscribing AGAIN, just send the list a post about your
family. That way, you will receive a copy and I will not have to alert you
that the list is slow and that you are still subscribed.
