I've been searching in vain for quite some time, and I'm hoping someone
can help me. I have a Rachel Carr who married Charles McKinnis in 1772,
when Charles was 50 years old. She may have been born in Butler Co., PA
where she and Charles settled, but she could have been from almost
anywhere, because Charles fought in the French and Indian War, and
travelled all over, and could have met her on his various travels. We do
know that she died in 1814, and is buried next to Charles in Butler
Cemetery, Butler, PA, with a gray tombstone.
I'm hoping that someone has a Rachel from this time period who could
possibly be this Rachel. The spelling of Carr could possibly be any
variation. The other possibility is that she could have been a widow of
a Carr when she married Charles, although she would have to be fairly
young since she and Charles had nine children. Also, the spelling of
McKinnis has turned up as McGinnis, McInnis, and many other ways.
If anyone has any clues at all for me I would greatly appreciate it.
