Hello,
I am only starting the CARR line and thought you may lead me in the right
direction. All I have is my grandfather, William Leslie Carr, 6 May 1894,
NYNY-14 Nov.1976, Largo, FL, married Louise Katherine GUNTHER. His father
was William Henry Carr, 10 Nov. 1860, NY-???, married to Alice Taylor
McWhinney.
This is my mother's family. Thanks,
Debra CRAIGHEAD GRINTON

I have a William Henry Carr, born 1861, son of Benjamin and Susan Jane
(McEvoy) Carr. The parents were married in NYC 8 Mar 1855. I have the
following correspondence:

Just received a note from my Aunt, she mentioned cousins of my
grandmother's (Gertrude CARR) in Jersey City, NJ.
Elizabeth CARR married Ed. FARRELL. Elizabeth was apparently a 1st
cousin of my grandmother's. My grandmother's CARR uncles were
Benjamin and George; being a first cousin, Elizabeth should be the
daughter of either Benj. or Geo. Grandmother was born 1890, Elizabeth
was apparently a contemporary so would've have born possibly around
that time.
Here's info on their parents family:
Benjamin CARR b.1828 Utica, Oneida Co.
m. 8 Mar 1855 in Duane Methodist Episcopal Ch.to Susan Jane McEVOY
Children:
1. Jennette Elizabeth b.1856
2. Irene Susan b.1858 married Frank HAINES
3. William Henry b.1861 ** my gr-grandfather ** m. Anastasia PHELAN
4. Benjamin b.18 Jun 1865, New York City ** father of Eliz.??
5. George Samuel b.16 Jul 1871, New York City ** father of Eliz.??
6. Sarah Jane b.14 Oct 1873, New York City married Peter STEINMANN
So it would seem that either Benjamin b.1865 or George b.1871 was the
the father of Elizabeth. I suspect there are probably male
descendents as well.
Anyone else looking for this family? I knew we had CARR relatives in
Teaneck, NJ (descendents of Wm. Henry) and suspected in Jersey City
but this is the first real info I've gotten. I had no info on Wm's
siblings descendents before this.
If anyone is looking for CARRs in Jersey City or has info on Elizabeth
or her siblings, I'd love to hear from you.

Pat,
Thank you. I have the book on order but it's a "print on demand" item
so it's a long wait to receive it.
I've found Haines & Steinmann records for the girls who married;
haven't been able to determine which Carrs are the brothers (there are
so many CARRs in NYC!) but haven't really worked hard at it yet
either. Right now, am working on finding McEVOYs (I think I may have
found 2 sisters & a brother to Susan J. McEVOY; Also found the
marriage record for Benj. & Susan: 8 Mar 1855, Duane Methodist
Episcopal Church, NYC) and Benjamin CARR the NYC Patriarch.
In fact, I'm off to the National Archives branch today for a full day
& evening of searching.
Thanks again.
Loretta

Don't remember if I posted this data or not. So here it is. It
should eventually be posted on the NY GenWeb Archive site.
Hope it helps someone.
