LANDOVER, Md., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Yurie Systems, Inc., the Maryland-
based manufacturer of ATM wide area networking equipment, announced today the
appointment of Harry J. Carr, 40, as the company's president and chief
operating officer. Most recently the market development vice president for
AT&T Local Services for the Atlantic states, Carr is a seasoned manager with
extensive experience handling both commercial and federal customers --
expertise that will guide the company in the service provider, government,
and
commercial end user markets. Carr will assume his new post on July 1.
Besides his role as market development vice president, Carr also
served as
the national program manager for AT&T's Local Services Division, establishing
and directing a program management discipline for the entire AT&T local
services initiative. Prior to joining AT&T Local Services, Carr was vice
president of AT&T's Defense Markets, where he directed the company's business
and market strategies for its Department of Defense customers. Carr also
practiced law for three years, most recently as a partner at Venable,
Baetjer,
Howard and Civiletti in Washington, D.C.
"Harry Carr is a perfect match for Yurie Systems," said Jeong Kim,
the
company's founder, chairman, and chief executive officer. "His background in
federal markets, his knowledge of commercial customers, and his extensive
management experience speak fluently to where Yurie has been, where the
company is going, and how quickly the company is expanding." Carr will
appoint directly to Kim.
When Carr joins the organization next month, Kwok Li, Yurie's
current
president and COO and the chief architect of the company's award-winning
LDR200 ATM access concentrator, will take over as chief technical officer and
vice chairman of the board of directors. The management shift will also
allow
Li to pursue business development and strategic alliances while Carr oversees
the day-to-day operations of the rapidly growing company.
