Hi!
Thanks for the response!
John Carr was married to Nancy Taylor, daughter of Samuel McDaniel Taylor and Mary
Brinson. Nancy Taylor very likely was born in Pulaski County, KY, 1806. The Taylor
family moved to Franklin County, TN and Jackson County, AL.
I believe John Carr was also married first to a woman born in GA. John's first son
was Hugh Carr, born AL 1824 or 22, who stated that his mother was born in GA. Nancy
Taylor clearly was born in KY, 1806. My suspicion is that Hugh's mother was a Keith
or a Gamble.
John Carr served in the Florida War and the Cherokee Removal. He received two land
bounties which he took in Carroll County AR. (The documents can be found on the BLM site.)
The Carr family moved both to Stonefort, Saline County, IL in 1852, and Stone County,
MO/Carroll County, AR in 1852. Some of the Carr children stayed in Saline (George W.,
Charlotte, and Nancy), John Carr and his wife Nancy moved to the Stone/Carroll area with
children Elihu and Bethany. In the 1860 census, you can find John Carr back in Stonefort,
living in the household of his daughter Nancy and son in law John Abner Spence.
