Obituary: Louis B. Carr, a corporate executive, died Tuesday at his home in
Concord. He was 79.
Born and raised in Arlington, Mr. Carr was a 1933 graduate of Belmont High
School. He was a 1937 graduate
of Harvard College where he played hockey, baseball and squash.
Mr. Carr was president of M.W. Carr & Co., a picture-frame manufacturer
located in Somerville for 35
years.
He served in World War II as director of the War Finance Board for Rhode
Island. He was a trustee of
Belmont Hill School and a director of the Federal Savings Bank. He served as
a director of the Leland Home
and was a trustee of Waltham Hospital. He was also on the board of The First
Parish Universalist-Unitarian
Church in Waltham.
Mr. Carr was also a member of the Weston Golf Club for many years.
Mr. Carr is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Housel); two sons, L. Brackett
of Glenview, Ill., and Stephen
W. of Concord; two daughters, Deborah C. Treadwell of Morristown, N.J., and
Patricia A. of Concord; and
10 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Parish
Universalist-Unitarian Church, Waltham.
