Obituary: Barbara E. Carr-Perry of Irvine, Calif., formerly of West Roxbury,
a homemaker, artist and
cosmetic consultant, died of cancer Sunday at home.
Born in Boston, Mrs. Carr-Perry grew up in West Roxbury and attended local
schools. She studied at the
Massachusetts College of Art and the Los Angeles Harbor College of Liberal Arts.
She had lived in California for about 15 years.
Mrs. Carr-Perry was a consultant for Charles of the Ritz cosmetics in Boston
for many years.
She was also a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Carr-Perry enjoyed art and literature, and she occasionaly exhibited
her paintings at private showings.
She had also done some fashion modeling as a young woman.
Mrs. Carr-Perry is survived by her husband, Henry R.; six daughters, Barbara
A. Smith and Michelle C.
Smith of Irvine, Calif., Dorothy Q. Fecteau of Bellingham, Susan A. Smith of
San Francisco, Deborah A.
Arnous of West Roxbury, and Pamela M.
Ashkenazy of Tiburon, Calif.; two sons, George E. Smith Jr. of Portland,
Maine, and Michael M. Smith of
Beverly Hills, Calif.; her mother, Dorothy (Quincy) of West Roxbury; a
sister, Dorothy J.
Buckley of West Roxbury; two brothers, John Q. Carr of Albuquerque, N.M.,
and James M. Carr of
Pembroke; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church,
West Roxbury.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Arrangements are by William J. Gormley Funeral Home, West Roxbury.
