Hi, all -
A Carr cousin sent me a newsclipping from her local paper (sorry, but the
date and newspaper name were clipped off, but it is recent, probably this
year). The article is called "Lost in Time", by staff writer Amy Horton,
and features a photo of a small cemetery with this caption:
"The 34 gravemarkers in Sunbury Cemetery are the only physical remains of
the seaport town of Sunbury, founded in 1758 by Mark CARR. The town's last
eight families moved away by 1850, and Sunbury disappeared from the map."
The article continues ... "It (the town) was founded by Mark Carr, a
captain in Gen. James Oglethorpe's Marine Boat Company, who was also
Brunswick's first settler." At the time the town rivaled that of
Savannah, GA.
Anyone know more about this Mark CARR???
