In the name of God Amen I William Carr of the County of Spotsylvania Gent.
being of perfect mind & memory thanks be to god for the same do make
this my
last Will & Testament in manner & form following, first I recommend my
Soul

Item I Give and Bequeath unto my son William Carr & to his heirs forever
part of my Land in the fork of James River in Louisa County & opposite to
the mouth of Prittys Creek, Beginning at a White Oak hickory mulberry
& Horn
Bean on the West Side the River near the mouth of a Deep Valley & up the
Valley to three Oaks at the head of the same thence north Seventy five
Degrees West to Maikilligases Patent Line thence along the same & Courseys
several Lines to Courseys Upper Corner thence a streight Line to be run to
Daltons Corner Maple Standing in Wolf Trap Branch thence along the
Lines of
the Inclusive Patent & the River to the Beginning.
Item I give to my Daughter Ann Carr to her Heirs forever, three hundred
Acres of Land to be laid off adjoining to Land I formerly give to Nicholas
Crenshaw & as near parallel to his as it can Jacobs Run.
Item I give to my Daughter Elizabeth & to her Heirs forever three
Hundred &
fifty Acres of Land to be laid off adjoining to the land bequeathed to her
Sister Ann.
Item I give unto my Daughter Phebee & to her Heirs forever the
remainder of
my land adjoining to my Daughter Elizabeths land and Down the Daltons
Corner
Maple in Wolf Trap Branch.
Item I give to my Son Walter Chiles Carr and to his heirs forever all
that
Parcel of my land in the Fork of James River in Louisa County Adjoining my
Son Williams Land, from the corner White Oak, Hickory Mulberry and
Horn Bean
down the River and Including the Water Course of the River from William
Crenshaws upper corner on the East Side and Down the River to the
mouth of a
gut on the west Side thence across the River and up the gut to a Dirt
Bridge
on the Road and along the Road as it now stands to the old Road, thence
along the Same to the Patent Line thence along the Patent Line, to the
Place
where my Son Williams Line is in Maikilligases Patent and thence to
the Head
of the Deep Valley to the Beginning.
Item I give unto my Son Charles Brooks Carr and to his Heirs forever the
Remainder of my Land and on the James River on the South Side the Road
Including the Water Course of the River and known by the Name of the
Cabbin
Land containing about two Hundred and Fifty acres.
Item I give unto my Daughter Agness Brooks Carr and to her Heirs forever
the Remainder of my Tract of Land in Spottsylvania County lying on the
South
Side of Chiswells Mine Road part of which I bought of Richard Ship and
part
of John Quarles containing about three Hundred acres.
Item I give unto my Son in law Mordecai Hord and to his Heirs forever the
Tract of Land Adjoining to his Land containing about two Hundred acres
which
I formerly laid off for George Taylor.
Item I give unto my son Charles my sett of Surveyors Instruments.
Item I give unto my Son William his Choice of a Horse or mare after
my Wife
has chose one.
Item My Will is that my Exors. Bind my Sons to Some Trade or
Handecraft as
soon as they shall have Sufficient Learning.

Particularly mentioned to be Equally Divided between my Wife and Children
Viz: William, Ann, Elizabeth, Charles Brooks Carr, Agness Brooks Carr,
Walter Chiles Carr, Phebe and Thomas, and I do hereby give the Estate by
this Clause of my Will Devised to my Said Wife & Children Respectively and
to their Heirs forever, Provided Nevertheless that either of my Said
Children die before they arrive to the age of twenty one or marry that
their
Share or Part given by this clause be sold by my Executors and the Money
arrising by such Sale be Equally Divided between my Wife (if living)
and all
my Children and their Legal Representatives.
Item I do Hereby ordain Constitute and appoint my Beloved Wife Susannah
Carr, and my Friends Edward Herndon and Joseph Brock whole and Sole Exers.
