HOWARD R. SHERMAN - Charlestown, Rhode Island
HOWARD R. SHERMAN, 71, of Madison, Maine, and formerly of Charlestown, a
commercial fisherman and farmer before retiring, died Friday at Maine
General Medical Center-Thayer Unit, in Waterville, Maine.
Born in Charlestown, a son of the late Elwin and Reva (Carr) Sherman, he
moved to Madison in 1974. Mr. Sherman had been a commercial fisherman in
Rhode Island for 30 years before moving to Maine, and had later owned and
operated a farm.
He was an Air Force veteran.
He is survived by four daughters, Gail Moorehead and Cheryle Sherman, both
of Richmond, Denise Moone of Skowhegan, Maine, and Lissa Brierley of South
Kingstown; two sons, Gordon Sherman of Augusta, Maine, and James Sherman of
Wolfboro, N.H.; five sisters, Ruth Baker of Narragansett, Gloria Corr in
Florida, Judith Woodmansee of South Kingstown, Evelyn Mook of Richmond and
Reva Woodmansee in North Carolina; a brother, Elwin Sherman Jr. of
Litchfield, Maine; and 10 grandchildren.
The funeral service was yesterday at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple Street,
Madison. Burial will be in the spring, in Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison.
