GREENFIELD - Edith A. (Pierce) Carr, 89, of 227
Wisdom Way, died Tuesday at home. Born here, she
was a lifelong resident. She was a 1928 graduate of
Greenfield High School and a 1930 graduate of North
Adams Normal School, where she majored in education.
She was a member of Robbins Memorial Congregational
Church and was active with the Greenfield
Parent-Teacher Association for a number of years and
Civil Defense. Her husband, Lisle F. Carr, died in 1995.
She leaves a daughter, Linda E. Tebo of Greenfield; two
sisters, Eleanor Irish of the Turners Falls section of
Montague and Margaret Pierce of Greenfield; seven
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A son, Peter
F., died in 1966. A graveside service will be scheduled in
the spring in Green River Cemetery. There are no calling
hours and Walker Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Hospice of Western
New England, 164 High St., Greenfield, MA 01301, or to
Robbins Memorial Congregational Church, Monson
Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
