If you have Carr/Kerr/Karr who were neighbors of Morrow in either NC, SC,
MO or TX, perhaps we have a connection:
Diantha M. "Di" CARR
born 1826 VA
died bef 1860 MO
--SPOUSE--
Joseph Taylor MORROW
Abt 1819

--CHILDREN--
1-Jane MORROW
2-Theresa A. "Thursey" MORROW
3-Joseph Taylor MORROW
4-Louisa J. MORROW
5-Lewis Cass MORROW
6-Awilda MORROW
7-John MORROW
8-William L. MORROW
9-Marion O. "poss. child" MORROW
Diantha's son Lewis said on the 1880 census that his parents were born in
Missouri. The 1850 Platte Co. Missouri census shows she was born in
Virginia and that is probably correct.
Her surname could be spelled Karr. This surname has been found in some
records in Platte Co. and Clay Co., Missouri and Tarrant Co., Texas and
some may be related to Diantha. There are Carr and Karr in the 1850 Platte
Co., Missouri census who may be related. Research in Polk Co. indicates
that the name was spelled Carr, Kerr, Keer, etc. and many of these persons
seemed to settle in the Looney/Mooney townships of Polk Co., Missouri.
They were from Kentucky and Tennessee. There were Carr buried in Polk Co.
cemeteries that could be related.
In the 1840 Polk Co., Missouri census, William Carr had two daughters in
the age bracket of Diantha. There is also a James Carr with daughters in
the right age bracket to be Diantha. Neither William or James are on the
1850 census and there is no will or probate for either of them.
In 1850 Pettis Twp., the same township Diantha and her husband lived in,
was a Margaret Carr age 66 born Kentucky living with Josiah Thorpe and Mary
(Carr) his Margaret Carr age 66 born Kentucky living with Josiah Thorpe and
Mary (Carr) his wife. They married in 1842. In another household was an
Alexander Carr age 39 and his family. In Platte Co. was Moses Karr age 52
with wife Sarah age 45 and Aaron age 17, all born Kentucky.
A. J. Morrow and Moses Carr appear as securities on estates dated Aug 1850
and Mar 1851.
There is a Samantha Carr who married Joseph Spencer May 27, 1851, both were
of Platte Co., Missouri, Book A, P220. There was also a younger Samantha
Carr in Missouri.
There is a marriage record of James Carr to Frances Rutledge Dec 1, 1849 in
Platte Co. On the 1850 census, there is a James Carr, 31, born Kentucky
and Frances A. Carr 16, born Kentucky. In 1860 Platte Co., MO James was 31
born KY and Frances A. was 16. I found other Carrs in Platte Co. Missouri
Frances A. Carr 16, born Kentucky. I found other Carrs in Platte Co.
Missouri in 1850. A Moses Carr in 1850 Platte Co., Missouri census,
Carroll Twp., age 52, born Kentucky with wife Sarah, age 45 born Kentucky
and a son Aaron 17 born Kentucky.
In 1880 Tarrant Co., Texas census there is a Jefferson Karr, 45 born
Virginia parents born Virginia) with wife Elizabeth 39, born Missouri and 4
children Indiana 13, James 11, Barthem (female) 9, Elizabeth 5. He was the
next family to Lewis Cass Morrow.
D. B. Carr, Deputy signed in a court case. Taken from a 1908 newspaper
from the Grapevine area of Tarrant Co., Texas.
It is unknown when or where she died but LDS sheets show MO for Missouri.
She probably died before 1860 when her husband was found with a wife named
Barbara on the census of McDonald Co., Missouri.
