Pat;
I found this family sketch, by [Edward Dean of Jamaica, Long Island, the
grandson of Jeremiah Carr & Esther Peasley.]
Jeremiah Carr -the adopted son of Jonathan Carr Sr. whose father was a sea
captain from Weare, N.H. and was lost at sea. Jeremiah Carr was born 1797, in
Weare, N.H.; died Feb 12, 1849, buried in the Town Line Cemetery in German,
Chenango County, New York. Jeremiah Carr married Esther Peasley [no dates],
buried in Union Cemetery on the Dean family lot. Jeremiah born in Weare,
N.H., came with the Jonathan Carr family to New York State. His father's name
was George Martin Carr, his mother had died and Capt. Carr had asked
Jonathan, in case his vessel was lost at sea to bring Jeremiah up and teach
him a useful trade. Where he met Esther Peasley we have no knowledge.
Jeremiah & Esther spent most of their married life in Carlisle, Schoharie
County, New York. He was a blacksmith. At that time the large four-horse
stages ran between Cooperstown and Albany, New York. They passed through the
village of Carlisle, and Mr. Carr shod all the stage horses of the stage
line. There were ten children born to Jeremiah & Esther Peasley Carr, no
dates to speak of were obtainable.

Check out Sanders and Sarah (Page) Carr in my database. They have sons
Jonathan and George in the right timeframe and they are from NH. Interesting,
eh?
I have this relatively recent note on the subject:

Pat: Sanders Carr (1734-1809) is my direct ancestor. His wife's maiden
name was not Maxwell as many early family histories show. He md 26 Nov.
1759, Kingston NH to Sarag PAGE, dau. of Onesiphorus Page & Patience
Dow. Best wishes, Leslie Hood
I checked the Carr Family Records, by Edson Carr, pp 66 and 99, and found
that he has details about George Carr b 20 Aug 1764 that I hadn't included in
my database yet. Seems he was married to a Mary Marden and had eleven kids,
including a son named George Marden Carr born 1803. George and Mary had no
child Jeremiah. George owned a wharf in ME for a time, but his wife made him
give it up. They lived in NH. Goshen, Chester and Bradford, NH are mentioned.
Wonder if the devil is in the details here?
