CARR, Samuel, soldier, was born in Virginia, Oct. 9, 1771; son of Dabney
and
Martha (Jefferson) Carr. He was graduated at William and Mary college in
1793. He commanded the cavalry at Norfolk, in 1812-15; was a member of
the
Virginia house of delegates from Albemarle in 1815, and later was elected
to
the state senate. He died in Albemarle county, Va., July 25, 1855. View
