He was living in Albemarle Co, VA when he entered service in the latter

trip took 6 or 8 weeks. He was "again pressed" the latter part of that

sugar, coffee, medicine, etc.) which trip took about six weeks. On his
return from trip he was kept two weeks longer to haul for the army. In
April 1781 he entered service as a drafted militiaman, "it having come
to his time to serve a tour." He was under the command of Col. Reuben
Lindsey of Albemarle Co in Gen. LaFayette's army. He went to Jamestown,
"he thinks in August, in which battle he was wounded in the right knee
slightly by a bayonet." He was then discharged and immediately

served until after the surrender of Cornwallis.
In Aug 1819 he purchased 230 A on Cedar Creek in maury Co, TN, where
