I have written on the Carr family before. Jemima Carr, descendant of John Carr 1765.
William Bonner, who married her is the second William, or William,Jr. Bonner, His father
is also named William,Sr., who was living in Philadelphia, thought to be married to a
woman, named Elizabeth. This William,Sr. is a son of Matthias Bonner, the immigrant, from
Germany, a place called the Palatinate, close to the Rhine River. Matthias, sailed down
the Rhine River to the Med. Sea, once on the Atlantic, they sailed for Wales, but did not
put ashore, anchored off coast and sent smaller ships aground, where more passengers were
brought on board and some passengers decided to remain in Wales, as it was called at this
time, some settled in what is now Ireland, and some in what is now England. Remember, this
is about the time, of William the Conqueror, or more precisely, shortly thereafter. There
were member of the Carr family aboard the same ship, that sailed from Germany. Now while
anchored of!
the coast of Wales, I read in some of Oscar D. Lambert research, for some reason, maybe
the captain died or William Lambert just took control, or if the captain decided to stay
at Wales, it is really unknown. Yet it is recorded that They all came across the Atlantic
set anchor off the coast of what is now Pennsylvania, and entered America at Philadelphia.
To the best of my knowledge.
