CARR, SHARON L., 51, of Point Judith Road, died Thursday, September 7,
2006. She is survived by her life partner, Debra Whetsell of Narragansett;
her daughter, Samantha Latty of Narragansett; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. E.
A. Carr of Lockport, NY; her sister, Cynthia Doggrell of Germantown, TN and
her children: Lara and Franklin Doggrell of Germantown, TN; her uncle, Dr.
Thomas McOsker of Narragansett; and her cousins, Sandra Rounds of Piermont,
NH and Brian McOsker of Portsmouth, RI.
Ms. Carr's professional life began as a special education teacher in
Michigan in 1978. She later spent many years working in hospice programs in
Florida and Pennsylvania as a counselor, program manager and administrator.
In 1986 Ms. Carr pursued a master's degree in Counseling and Psychology
from Nova University of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. In 2004 Ms. Carr graduated with
a Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences from the University
of RI. At the time of her death, Ms. Carr was employed as the Evening
Supervisor at Narragansett Public Library in addition to work as a
Reference Librarian at the East Greenwich Public Library.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church
in Narragansett on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 1 pm. Inurnment will be
held on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 11 am at St. Anne's Cemetery in
Cranston, RI. Memorial donations can be made to the Narragansett Public
Library 35 Kingstown Rd., Narragansett, R.I. 02882 to honor Ms. Carr's
lifelong love of words, books and learning.
