Message Board Post:
I have one Charles C. Carr in my tree. He was the son of Patrick Henry Carr and Julia
Anna Myra (Moore) Carr. The only problem is that he died when he was 15 on November 11,
1893 according to what I have, which came from a book that one of Julia's relatives
wrote. It could be wrong though. Also, it could be that Charles C. Carr could have been
named after a Charles Chester Carr who was an ancestor and maybe two brothers named their
sons the same. Patrick was born in Auglaize Co, OH and it seems like, even though he and
his brother John Carr, who married Julia first and had my great great grandfather, James
Carr, both went to Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co. Indiana, their parents stayed in Auglaize as
did some of the other family.
Patrick's parents are James Carr and Eleanor, but I don't have Eleanor's
maiden name. They are both from Ireland, according to the census, but came to Auglaize
Co, Ohio in 1831 according to the "HISTORY AND BIOGRAPHY, COUNTIES OF WHITE AND
PULASKI INDIANA"
Charles C. Carr, the one I mentioned above, was born December 11, 1878 which is close to
the date you have, but I have that it was in Lafayette, IN, but again that could be wrong.
Maybe he married at a young age and his wife was pregnant before he died.
Anyhow, hope this helps you in some way. I don't know much about this family yet.
They are a tough bunch to find because most of them have such common names, like James
Carr and John Carr and they use initials instead of their names. There are literally
thousands to look through to try to find the right one! Took me months to find Patrick
Henry Carr and figure out what his name really was, as he used initials, as did many of
the men in that family, and the census had him as R.H. Carr.
I saw lots of Patrick Henry's on message boards, so tried a search for that name and
that's how I found that history, which told me that my great great grandfather was not
Patrick's son. Took some time to unravel that mess!
I still haven't been able to find my great grandmother, Mary Carr, or her sisters,
Naomi and Marie Carr's birth records. They should be in Lafayette or Fulton, but I
haven't found them. Also haven't found James birth record.
So they are definitely a challenge!
I will be more than happy to help with what I have so far.
