In truth probably very few people living today with the surname Carr or
Kerr or any other derivative are descended from Ker of Swinehurst or
WTC. By the time the use of surnames became popular people picked one
based on where they lived or who they owed allegiance to or someone
just told them that is who they are. Considering the reliability of
records , the loss of records and the chicanery that has gone on alll
these years selling false identities, one wonders why anyone would
waste time making such a claim. Would they expect others to believe
them?

Right. If you are going to use one, I would stick to the lineages

These
have been published in book form (currently three volumes, I think).
They
update them as new information becomes available. Another widely
accepted
book is Royalty for Commoners by Stuart. I, too, have seen these
lineages
that claim to go back to THE Adam, and while they are good for giggles
I
wouldn't bet the farm on them.
