Alas, it is not true that nearly everyone in America is descended from
William the Conquerer. It is correct that WtC has many thousands of direct
descendents today, and it is highly likely that if your ancestors came to
this country during the colonial period it would be possible to tie in to
some royal British line and, hence, WTC. The hard part is PROVING it.
As someone who has proven a line of descent through Wtc, I can tell you that
going back at least 30 generations through actual records, not internet
hearsay and items taken from FTM cd's, is not that easy, but it is doable.
It took me 20 years of persistance and research.

Many years ago,1970 ish when I first began my research, I met an
older
Mormon at our local Sacramento Family History Center. HE told me that If
I
ever got my family tree back to William the Conqueror there was
information
taking the lineage back to Adam THE ADAM, I got that information and
added
it to my tree as I had it at the time. Well a massive stroke in 1998 left
me
paralyzed on my left side and somehow lost that original data, but he
also
told me that nearly everyone in America was descended from William the
Conqueror. So, I am thinking that we all must be our own cousins over and
over, sure gives the term BROTHERLY LOVE a new slant. Just my thoughts on
the matter

Her
mother was Ada Wiley and her father was Charles Carr from Adrain, MI.
I
believe they migrated to Mi from Ohio. Seneca area. If you have any info I
would greatly appreciate it. The Carr side of my family is a big mystery
to
me.
