FLORENCE (CARR) NIXON - Pawtucket, Rhode Island
FLORENCE (CARR) NIXON, 85, of Longmeadow Nursing Home, Taunton, MA, formerly
of Pawtucket, a retired teacher, died yesterday at the home. She was the
wife of the late Edward B. Nixon. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late
Charles and Florence (Giles) Carr, she had lived in Pawtucket before moving
to Taunton.
Mrs. Nixon was a teacher in the Taunton school system for 33 years, retiring
in 1981.
She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School, and Rhode Island College,
Providence, and a commuicant of St. Joseph Church, Taunton.
She leaves a daughter, Janice Nixon of Plymouth, Mass.; two sons, Robert
Nixon in Maine and Michael Nixon of North Dighton; two sisters, Barbara
Moulton and Sister Charles Joseph, both of Warwick; a brother, Charles Carr
of Pawtucket; and 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was the
mother of the late Richard Nixon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St.
Joseph's Church, Taunton. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton.
