VELMA C. FLANAGAN - South Kingstown, RI

VELMA C. FLANAGAN, 88, of Windsor Road, a retired secretary, died Thursday
at South County Hospital, Wakefield.
She was the wife of the late James A. Flanagan. Born in South Kingstown,
she was a daughter of the late Daniel N. and Ethel L. (Greenman) Carr.
Mrs. Flanagan had worked as a secretary in the guidance department at South
Kingstown High School for 22 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member, former deaconess, Sunday school teacher and choir member
of Peace Dale Congregational Church. She had been a member of the South
Kingstown Recreation Commission for 22 years.
She was a member of Rhode Island's first Girl Scout troop, and the South
Kingstown and Narragansett Senior Citizens. She was a former treasurer of FISH.
She leaves a son, J. Michael Flanagan of Carlisle, Mass.; a daughter, Gail
F. Hemingway of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and four grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Daniel Winston Carr and
Douglas C. Carr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Peace Dale
Congregational Church, 261 Columbia St.. Burial will be private.
