Greetings, I am about 99% sure that your (also my) William C Carr
descends from Walter and Susannah Carr in Baltimore MD,
and relocated for awhile to Halifax Co in VA along with his in-laws.
His father is Thomas Carr. He is not known to be directly related to the VA Carrs from
England. Walter Carr also used French spellings of Carre and Le Carre on his legal papers
in Gunpowder MD.
Our William Carr was married twice and had his second family mostly in NCarolina, making
records tricky. He had two sons named William from the different wives over the decades,
plus some Carr children who were people of color (Native American and Black.)
This generation of Carrs has proven to be quite difficult to track but several researchers
have proven it with MD and Quaker records.
Baltimore Carrs were active in Quaker circles. William left that life and had some bad
luck in VA that coincided with his father in law's unsuccessful military exploits
there. In his old age with his second wife he again shows up in some Quaker records in
NC.
I am descended from his second family's son William. This William relocated to IL and
has descendants now mainly in IL and OK. My database has exploded but I can answer
individual questions sent to sylverpoint(a)yahoo.com
Best wishes and congratulations for even finding him in VA! Betsi McKay
