This is good but there is a generation missing. The Father of John W. (Big John) Carr was
Elijah Carr born 1801 Died 1880.One census gives him born in Virginia and another in
Ireland. Can someone give me proof of the connection between the Elijah Carr you
mentioned and this Elijah Carr.
Everything except the first sentence of your letter is what I gave you.
Thanks Helen Baley Carr

Hi Helen,
The reference was to: Elijah Carr, b. 1699, of Jackson Co.Tn., which
is now Putnam Co. Tn.. Elijah's son, John W. (Big John) Carr, b. June
1822, and John W. (Little John) Carr married sisters. After Little
John's first wife died he married the widow of Elijah's son James who
had been killed in the war. DNA indicates a possible link to a John
Carr, b. 4 Jan 1822 in Ireland. Brought to the US when he was 4 yrs old
along with his sister Betsy 6 yrs old. John's father was possibly John
William Carr. John named his boys William, John James & Granville.
Both families came to TX together and lived there together, but the
paper connection has not yet been found.
Anyone who recognizes these families and has any additional information
is invited to respond. Thank you.

For years the various Carr families living in Tennessee or descended
from Carrs who lived in Tennessee in past generations wondered if they
share a common paternal ancestor. The favorite paternal ancestor of
many of these families was one man whose grave-site was well known,
Elijah Carr. DNA testing has confirmed that some of these families
who share stories about common Carr paternal ancestry with Elijah, but
have never identified the common Carr paternal ancestor, have almost
identical YDNA haplotypes (signatures) at 67 markers, which is a lot of
markers. This is the only confirmation they have for their family
lore.
