Pat,
As he is my Grandfather, I would be interested in what you have on Luther
Lewis Carr and his family. Particularly stories of the nature that Beth Hurd
is providing.
As far as Warner Carr, Luther has a first cousin once removed by that name.
This Warner's father, John P. Carr, died in 1922 in Chalmers IN. Also, as
Luther's grandfather, Soloman Carr, moved to the Chalmers area around 1850,
there are alot of Carr's from there.
For what's worth, here is a short break down between Luther and "my"
Warner:
1. Roebuck Carr, 25 Sep 1721 (Germany) - 1802 VA / Sara Peterson
2. Martin Carr, 1772 VA - 1845 IN / Elizabeth Davis
3. Soloman Carr, 1798 VA - Dec 1869 Chalmers IN / Rebecca Susan Price, 1798-
Soloman moved to Chalmers IN about 1848
4. Martin Luther Carr, 17 Feb 1824 OH - 1891 Chalmers IN / Olive J. Layton,
1830 - 1912 Chalmers IN
Martin and Olive lived all over the old north west territories. Each
of their five childern were born in a different comunity (including at least
three states) before settling down in Chalmers.
Olive was Martin's second wife. His first wife, Marry Ann Briggs,
moved herself and their four children to Chalmers around 1870. Martin and
Olived settled down in Chalmers after Marry Ann moved there.
5. Luther Lewis Carr, 1864 IL - 1955 Chalmers IN / Ora Myrtle Carr, 2 Sep
1889 KS - 1945 White Co. IN
Luther and Ora were second cousins. Ora got to Chalmers via Washington
State and Mississippi. Here family settled in Mississippi about 1900.
6. My father. He's 69.
7. Me. I'm 46.
4. John P. Carr, 4 May 1826 - 12 Jan 1896 Chalmers IN / Catherine H. Price,
2 Jul 1831 - 3 Sep 1863, Chalmers IN
John P. and Martin Luther were brothers.
5. John P. Carr, 1854 - 1922 Chalmers IN / ?
Be carefull with the John P.'s. In addition to these two, Martin
Luther Carr named one of his sons John P. -- One of these John P.'s, I think
Martin's Luthers, was a Repersentive in the Indiana State House.
6. Warner
Be warned. As I'm working full time, and geneology is a 3rd or 4th tier down
activity, I don't keep it up much and my record are a mess. One of these
days I'll get it together for public consumption.
--- And I may be very slow in replying to inquiries.

Hi, all,
This is from "Heroes All", a compendium of names ... decorated for
exceptional heroism... Harry R. Stringer, Ed., 1919:
"CARR, Warner W., Major. 4th infantry. For extraordinary heroism in action
near Vaux, France, June 30, 1918. Preparatory to an attack upon Vaux, and
in broad daylight he voluntarily crawled out into No Man's land to a point
close to the enemy lines, remaining there several hours under fire from
machine guns and snipers, while he made sketches of the town and its
defenses. The info he obtained was of the utmost importance in planning
the attack which was made the following day with marked success. Home
address: Mrs. Martha Belle Carr, mother, Chalmers, Ind."
