Hi, all -
from the "Electric Spark", May 1928, Vol. XII, No. 5
Issued by the Dr. Bates Sanitarium, Jamestown, RI
(Dr. Bates was a CARR descendant himself)
"Death of C. E. B. CARR
Clarence Edward Brested Carr died April 8th, at his residence, the Carr
homestead in Jamestown, after an illness of several months. Mr. Carr was a
lineal descendant of Caleb Carr, one of the two brothers who came to Newport
in 1638. Caleb Carr went to Jamestown, where he became one of the largest
landholders and eventually the Governor of Rhode Island.
Mr. Carr, who was 78, was graduated in the public schools in Jamestown and
at East Greenwich Academy. He was engaged in farming until last October,
when illness caused him to retire.
He is survived by a widow and five sisters, Miss Abby Carr, Miss Sarah Carr,
Mrs. Hannah C. Clark, Mrs. B. C. Watson of Providence, and Mrs. Celia Clarke
of Shannock."
