Hi!
There is a Stephen Carr in Jackson County, AL in 1850.
He is indexed under 'Care', right next to the elder
John Care and his wife Armis. That name in that one
census was spelled as Care. In other censuses that
family's name was spelled Carr. Only trouble is, in
that census, Stephen shows place of birth as KY.

Remember that Stephen Carr shows up in the 1850 Census in Arkansas with his family. The
family in the 1850 AR census is listed as Stephen age 26, Jane age 24 (in later census
determined to be Martha Jane), John T age 6, William E age 4, and Mary F age 2. After
1850 the family easily can be followed in the census to Missouri, AR, and TX. What I was
trying to do was make a connection in AL with his parents. Stephen and Martha Jane were
both born in AL. John T is shown to be born in Tennessee and the rest of the kids are
shown to be born in AR. When you look at the map, it is not far from northern AL to Tenn
to AR. I saw your site and message on the web and they were interesting.
Thanks
Jerry
