Do you have any photos of any of these men? A John Carr who lived in Peoria County IL got
mixed up with my JCarr of the same. This other John Carr (yours?) was was of a stocky,
muscular build and had a huge handlebar mustache. He served in the Civil War and then was
sheriff of Tombstone AZ during the days of sheep and cattlemen wars and is credited with
keeping much of that town safe. Later he came back to IL and ran a bar there.Very colorful
character!
I hope you find yours!

Am looking for the Scotland/Ireland roots of my Carr side of the family. William
immigrated to New York in the 1750's or before. He married, I don't know who,
had a son John Carr 1759-1848, who had a son Nathan Carr 1797-1882, they moved
to Illinois. Nathan had a son John Carr 1830-1892. He married Mary Elizabeth
Ashby, their daughter Ines Carr 1856-1945 married my great-grandfather Edward
Malden Lowman. Any info would be helpful.
