I am looking for information about any Carr family in Hartford or other
places in Washington County who might be a descendant of Daniel Carr.
Daniel Carr was a survivor of the Wyoming Valley PA massacre and was held
captive for about 7 years. Stories of the massacre can be found on various
places on-line. He married Amy Hadsell from Rhode Island. After the Rev War
was over he returned to Rhode Island and had at least two sons, James and
Daniel. James settled in St. Lawrence County NY. In 1812 in St. Lawrence
County records is a mortgage. James Carr is borrowing from Daniel Carr. I
assume this is the father loaning money to his son to buy some property.
Daniel is in the 1810 of Hartford and 1820 census of Fort Ann.
James Carr has a relationship with an Abigail Carr who married John Legg and
was living with her sister Nellie Dyer and Nellie's husband Samuel Dyer in
North Elbe Essex NY in 1855, 1860 and 1865. Abigail is said to have been
born in Pennsylvania and is of the right age to be a child of Daniel's born
just before the massacre.
Daniel Carr's son Daniel is also in t 1820 census of Fort Ann. He married
Martha Mason and moved to Indiana. I have information on Daniel Jr.
Questions?:
Did Daniel Senior die in Washington County and if so does someone have death
information?
Did Amy die in Washington County and if so does someone have death
information?
Was Abigail Carr Legg a child of Daniel and Amy?
Or was Abigail Carr Legg a daughter-in-law having married one of Daniel's
sons prior to her marriage to John Legg?
Was Nellie Dyer, the sister to Abigail Carr Legg, a child of Daniel and Amy
Carr?
Thank You
