I would not trust the census where the parents are from MD. It was obviously someone who
didn't know where his parents were from. I was 22 before I really knew where my
father was born. Up to that time, I had filled out all kinds of official forms with where
I believed he was born. All wrong. If the census worker talked to one of the children,
or a neighbor, the info is only as good as he giver. (GIGO)
Many births were not even followed until 1900. Not surprised you didn't find a birth
for Reuben. Anything before 1900 is hit and miss until then, and even after, it is hit
and miss until it is "official" to keep the court house informed.
Good job finding the marriage certificate. It is in the same boat with the birth
certificates. Most times it is a Family Bible entry that is the "official"
record of any of it.
