Jack A. Carr, 77,
of Little Cooley Road, Union City,PA,
died on Wednesday, April 18, 2012,
at his residence.
He was born on May 29, 1934, in Lottsville, Pa.,
the son of the late Donald and Ruby Smith Carr. Jack enlisted in the United States Navy
and served during the Korean War, attaining the rank of PO2. He worked for Marathon
Electric in Erie, Struthers Wells in Titusville, and Pullman Standard in Butler. Returning
to the area, he worked on the roads for Bloomfield Twp. He was a well-known local
bartender, working as manager of Sullivan's Tavern at Canadohta Lake and at numerous
local establishments. In later years, he worked at the American in Union City.
He was preceded in death by his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Lily Carr and
Dan Carr; and by a grandchild. Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sally L. Carrick
Carr, who he married on November 16, 1957; four sons, Donald (Michele) Carr, and Michael
(Lisa) Carr, both of Spartansburg, and Richard (Loretta) Carr and Dennis Carr, both of
Lincolnville; a sister, Dona Anderson of Erie; an aunt, Doris Jean Carr of Ashville, N.Y.;
and a close family friend, Danae Carr.
He is further survived by 14 grandchildren,
12 great-grandchildren,
and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday, April 23, 2012, from noon until a 1:00 p.m. memorial
service at the American Legion Post 237, 1 South Main Street, Union City. Rev. F. Thomas
Suppa and the American Legion Chaplain will officiate. A private burial service will be
held at the convenience of the family. The C. S. Warthman Funeral Home, 69 N. Main Street,
Union City, PA is in charge of arrangements.
