Oscar Carr age 92 of Erie,PA,
died Friday, October 21, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on
October 3, 1919, the son of the late Oscar and Cora L. Connor Carr. He was a Deacon of the
House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. Oscar worked as a concrete mason laborer. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons Eddie Carr and Richard
Lofton; two daughters, Barbara J. Grayson and Georgia Corder; and three brothers, Rufus
Carr, Willie L. Carr and George Carr. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby M. Parker
Carr who was his best friend and caregiver; they renewed their wedding vows on May 7,
2011, their 46th anniversary; his daughters, Johnnie Mae Bryant, Hattie Johnson, Evelyn
Carr, Diane McQueen and Merlynn Coles all of Erie; his sons Willie L. Carr of Linesville,
Oscar Carr, Jr. of Glendale, Ariz., William James Phillips of Erie, Oscar Ondra Carr of
Harrisburg, Arthur T. Carr, Donald Ginnery and James Corder, also of Erie; and his brother
Reverend Fletche!
r Carr of Erie. He is further survived by many grandchildren. Friends may call at the
House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 East 21st Street, on Thursday from 4 to 8
p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Reverend
Michael Coles officiating. Interment will be in Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to
the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 East 21st St., Erie PA 16503.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th
Street.
