Carr is an Engish version of Kerr, Karr, and even some other phonetically close names.
Many legal records and news stories prior to the 1800s often use all three spellings for
the same person since many names were often recorded using the phonetic variation chosen
by the person writing the name. I have the opposite in my paternal line, Kerr in Northern
Ireland became Carr in America. So, when researching the Carr name, remember to look
under all phonetic variations.
