WALNUT CREEK: Wilda Wise, 100, of Walnut Creek, Ohio (Holmes County) and formerly of
Crooksville, Ohio died Monday, October 18, 2010 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home at Walnut
Creek.
She was born January 11, 1910 at Hemlock, Ohio to the late William Harlan and Florence
(Stein) Carr.
She was a member of the Crooksville Maple Avenue Christian Church and attended St.
John's United Church of Christ at Walnut Creek.
She had worked for the Crooksville China Company and was retired from the Crooksville
School District where she worked in the cafeteria.
She was a member of the Crooksville Garden Club and was a life member of Eastern Star. She
was married December 9, 1929 to Leo J. Wise and he preceded her on April 23, 2004.
She is survived by her niece, Marcia (John) Maag of Myrtle Beach; great niece, Michelle
(Randy) Hochstetler of Walnut Creek, Ohio and her children Dan, Heather, Sarah, and Seth;
her great nephews, Steve Maag of Berlin, Ohio and Lt. Col. Michael (Leisa) Maag of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and his children Rachel, Matthew, Rebekah, Leah, and Stephen.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by her two sons, Fredric Leon
Wise and Jeffry Lynn Wise; and her sister, Leona Smith.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral
Home 1018 W. Main Street Sugarcreek, Ohio with Pastor Con Wolf officiating.
Burial will be in St. John's United Church of Christ Church Cemetery at Walnut Creek.
Friends may call Thursday 12-1 at Smith-Varns Funeral Home prior to the service. For those
unable at attend please visit the funeral home's website to share a memory and sign
the guest register.
