CARR-HOPKINS, TERESA J. (KANE), 82, RN, of Rocco Avenue, Pawtucket,
died July 3, 2010 at the Philip Hulitar Center in Providence. She was
the beloved wife of Paul F. Hopkins Jr. and the wife of the late
Joseph A. Carr.
Mrs. Carr-Hopkins was born March 21, 1928 in Providence the daughter
of the late John and Sarah Agnes (Chadwick) Kane.
After being a member of Sacred Heart High School ('46) she graduated
from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, class of 1949. She was a
resident of Lonsdale until 1940 and then moved to Pawtucket for the
rest of her life.
Teresa lived a full life that included being the Head Nurse of a
Contagious Disease Unit at Chapin Hospital, Providence in the early
1950s, a Staff Nurse at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital (1958-1968),
Charge Nurse at Mansion Nursing Home, Central Falls (1978-1996),
Administrative Aide at Governor's Commission on Disabilities
(2000-2008), member of the Board of Governors for

Foundation Bureau, organizer of the first arthritis support group in
Rhode Island, facilitator for Insight support groups, active in St.
Teresa's Cub Scout Pack 11 with her late husband, Girl Scout Leader
and Camp Nurse at summer camps for Cub and Girl Scouts.
Besides her husband, Teresa also leaves her children Mary R.
Wierzbicki of Pawtucket, John F. Carr and his wife Susan of Rehoboth,
Lawrence J. Carr and his wife Donna, Stephen T. Carr and his wife
Adriana, David P. Carr and his wife Patricia and James M. Carr all of
Pawtucket, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carr-Hopkins is the mother of the late Thomas W. and Joseph A.
Carr Jr. and is also predeceased by her sister Sarah Kane and her
brothers Joseph, John, James and Francis Kane.
Mrs. Carr-Hopkin's funeral will be held Thursday at 10:00 am from the
MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket, with a Mass of
Christian Burial in the St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Avenue,
Pawtucket at 11:00 am. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4:00 pm to
7:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's
