Dr. McOsker was married to my great- aunt, Virginia CARR ... she was
a sister to my grandmother, Bertha Constance (Carr) Hogan.

McOSKER, DR. THOMAS CANNON of Narragansett, a neurosurgeon, formerly
of Providence, died Monday peacefully, with his family at his side at
Sakonnet Bay Manor in Tiverton.
Dr. McOsker, the youngest son of John Edward and Emma Alice Cannon
McOsker, was born in Providence in 1917. He graduated from Classical
High School, Brown University and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.
A captain in the U.S. Army, he was the post surgeon at Redstone
Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama from 1951 to 1953. He practiced
medicine in Providence until 1985 and consulted from his home in
Narragansett until the late '90s. He was on the staff at Rhode Island
Hospital, Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket and was a lecturer at Brown
University Medical School.
He spent his retirement in Narragansett visiting Salty Brine and
Narragansett Town Beaches daily, nurturing a love for the constantly
changing ocean that began during his youth in Matunuck, where he was
a lifeguard under Roger Wheeler. An Eagle Scout, Dr. McOsker remained
committed to the Boy Scouts during his career in Providence.
He was predeceased in 1987 by his beloved and faithfully remembered
wife of forty three years, Virginia Carr McOsker. He is survived by
his daughter, Sandra McOsker Rounds and his son-in-law Stephen, of
Piermont, N.H., his son, Brian Edward McOsker and his
daughter-in-law, Carol of Portsmouth, six grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Dr. McOsker at St.
Mary's Star of the Sea Church, Narragansett, RI on Friday at 11a.m. A
private burial will be in St. Francis's Cemetery in Pawtucket. In
lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cancer Research Institute or
