This couple was married in Fountain County, Indiana in 1848, and the last I find of them is in the 1880 census in Cherokee County, Iowa. It appears that James was 4-6 years younger than Mary, who evidently was born about 1815 in Greenbrier County (now) West Virginia.
Mary was my great grandfather's older sister.
Does anyone happen to know when/where James and Mary eventually died?

I'm looking for my father's ancestors. His name is Lionel Joseph Carr, born June 27, 1911-12. It believed that he was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and ended up in the Catholic Children's Home in St.Louis, Mo where he was later adopted by John and Eva Chapman of Palmyra, Illinois. We believe his father's name to be either Gerald Harold Carr or Gerald Harold Carroll. There were stories of his being involved with some form of law enforcement or border patrol. Any information to this side of my family would be greatly appreciated. I would be more than happy to provide in exchange all of the other ancestry information for all sides of our family (over 5,000 names going back to 80 a.d.

Thank you so much for the reply. I've been working on the Harpole line off and on for over 20 years and hitting brick wall after brick wall. Thank goodness for the expansion of "Google".
Last summer I read a digitized copy of the "John M. Coulter" family history of southwest Arkansas which included Harpole descendants from Wilson County, TN. In the book was a transcript of the will of John Harpole in 1820 I was able to see the connections of my line to the John Harpole line.
In addition, I was able to research probate records on my branch (there are no more males, however all of the women in the late 19th century spelled the name Harpool, however some continued to spell it Harpole) and find additional information to support the oral histories surrounding my Harpool family of Howard and Hempstead counties in Arkansas. Do you know if a probate or estate file exists for John Harpole Carr's mother Mary "Polly" Carr?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Lyle

J.H.Carr is my great grandfather. He moved to the Indian Territory to establish an Indian girls school at Bloomfield. His first wife Harriett Newell Nail ( children Edwin Erastus and John Emory and 4 more that I do not have names for) died and he married my ggrandmother (Angelina Hosmer) who was a teacher at the school (from Boston). My grandfather W.J.D. Carr was born there. When my ggrandmother died, J.H. married again to another of the teachers. S.J.Johnson (I don't know what the initials stand for) (children Bradford Marvin and Sallie Cassandra and 1 more not named)She wrote a wonderful biography which I have a copy of. Last summer I visited the place where Bloomfield Academy was located and the many graves there. It is now just a little cemetery among a lot of trees. We were told that not long before we visited, they had a group of Indian boys clear out the brush, etc so the gravestones could be found. J. H.'s headstone was a beautiful marble one that had been va!
ndalized and broken.

This is the information that I have about Wiley and Easter (Esther, Ester). The lived in Mississippi during the 1830, 1840 and 1850 census. 1830 in Hinds County, 1840 in Carroll County and 1850 in Carroll County. In 1860, they are on the census in DeWitt County, Texas. 1870 shows Easter without Wiley in Wharton County, Texas. I suspect that is where Wiley died, he had a land grant there, but I haven't been able to find anything concrete yet. I don't have any information about their marriage, I see that you say they were married in 1828, do you know where or have any documentation to support that? If so, I'd love to have the date and anything you may have. I still haven't found anything regarding their parentage. There is a James, John and Joseph W. that also lived in Mississippi during the same time frame, so I'm trying to work it from that angle to see if I can't find their parents and where they came from. I will try to let you know if I find anything.

Does the Carr Clan book include reference to Carrs that lived in Orange Co
NY &/or New Jersey? I'm still looking for Samuel Carr's parents, siblings
- he is purported to be born in Totowa NJ in 1768, married Mary Post in
1793 (abt). This family of Carrs moved to Palmyra, Wayne Co, NY in early
1800s (from Sussex Co NJ) and many of them later moved to MI in mid
1800s. One son, Gabriel Carr, moved to Ohio.

I'm sorry but I don't have any of your relatives in my book. My ancestors came from Maryland very early and were some of the earliest settlers in Ohio. By the 1800's, all of my Carr's that I have information on we settled in Ohio.
Good luck in your research. I wish I could have been of help.

What I gave you is as far back as we can go. We have not been able to find siblings, parents or middle name. That is what we are looking for. Numerous census records show the birth in Kentucky with the 1810-11 birth date. If we could confirm anything, we would have a place to start. I am sorry we have no more info. I have searched off and on for several years and have found no more details. If there is a link to anything, I have not been able to find it.

I was so excited to get your post because Aquilla Carr is a common name within our family and I was sure you were a long lost relative. But, I have been through these books over and over and I find no mention of an Aquilla C. Carr married to a Martha. I have many Aquilla's but none give a middle name or initial and none of them have the correct birth year of 1810-11. Lastly, none of them were born in Kentucky. Are you sure of the birth place? Do you have a city or location you can confirm? Kentucky and S. Ohio are so close, perhaps the state is off. If you send me more information, I'll do some additional research...do you know his parents or siblings names? Martha's last name? Anything additional would help. I'm sure some link must exist!
