W. E. Carr, Esq., arrived here on Friday morning and after a hurried call on a few of his friends in this city, went east the same night. He is gone to visit his father and old home in northern Ohio, and return to the wes when the visit is over.

I just found William Shuttlesworth death certificate and it states that his father was John Shuttlesworth who was born in VA but it also states that his mother's name was Selene Carr, not Mary Carr. I am hoping someone can clear this up.
Thanks
gwood

Looking for information on Mary Carr who was the wife of John Shuttlesworth. Their sons were William Westwood Shuttlesworth,Adolphus and Thomas Shuttlesworth. I am descended from William Shuttlesworth. William a civil war soldier died in 1912 in Uniontown, KY. I got the name of his parents from his pension papers.
I am wondering who Mary's parents were. If anyone has any information it would be appreciated.
Thank you,
g. wood

If you made a stronger connection to the Carr line perhaps giving us the sisters names (and husbands) then we might be able to make a connection to the brother. I was wondering why you had chosen to title this Carr surname when you were looking for Doss.
Since there are a few different Carr lines I don't know how to help you unless I see a Carr name I can recognize. Hope to hear from you in the future. Kelly

I noticed in your posting that you had a book about Carr's that had belonged to your GG Grandfather.
I was wondering if you had ever come across a John or Jack Carr, in that book.
My 4G Grandfather, John "Jack" Carr, Born 10/10/1801, in one of these states - NC, VA, KY, TN.
He is one of my major brickwall's, I cannot find any information on him before his marriage in 1822.
I do not know who his parents were or anything else.
Would appreciate any help that you could supply.
Melinda Massey

My gggrandfather was also John Newton Doss of Johnson/Franklin County, Arkansas. As my aunt puts it, his house was in Franklin County and his barn was in Johnson County. I descend through his second child, Henrietta Theodosia.
