Hi,
Can anyone help me with any information on Robert Wm Carr. All I know is his name, and that he married Ethel Webber. I think in the district of Edmunton, outside london. Or around there anyway, as that is where the register of my grandfathers(their sons) birth took place.
Thanks, Rachael.

Hi Jeff, The actual name that I am trying to follow is Jeanne Carr. I am pretty sure her middle name starts with a M. If I have the story right she lost her mmom when she was very young(maybe 3 or 4). She had to help raise her siblings. Does any of this sounds likely? Any help would be greatful.......Thanks

I have a Carr family in LA who would get you into the IBSSG. He was shot running from the police. Later they found that he had nothing to do with the current crime, so they couldn't ask him why he was running.
Your inquiry has no names. Curious.
I also have a Carr who worked and died in Hollywood in the 1940s.

Hi Jim,
I will try to answer the question you have asked.
First you asked how did I know that Frances Farmer in the will was your Frances Farmer.
My answer: I don't know if the Frances Farmer in the will of William Carr is your Frances Farmer or not, but I think she is. I am baseing this on the Francis Farmer that is in my husband's Carr line. His Francis Farmer is the one listed as William's granddaughter in his will and she is married to Samuel Farmer m. 28 Oct 1828. Documentation supporting this is found in the Marriage Register of Hx Co VA and states that Thomas Carr consents, no relationship given. The surety and witness on the marriage license was Even Maynard. (I believe from this, Frances is the daughter of Thomas B Carr.) The marriage is also listed in the "Marriages of Halifax Co., VA" p. 49 by Chiarito". I also know that Thomas B Carr, the father of Frances, is the son of William Carr and that Thomas' 2nd wife Nancy is mentioned in Wm Carr's will.
Secondly you wrote: "John Carr who died in 1753; are you saying that this man might be the father of William C Carr of the will? The William who was one of the sons of John could have named one of his sons after his brother Thomas B"
My answer: I have never seen a William C Carr listed in the early records of Hx Co. There is a Wm C Carr (Christopher) b. 1845, d. 1916, but I don't think this is the one you are looking for. John Carr of Hanover Co d. 1753 had 3 sons: John, Thomas and William, who are listed as living in Halifax Co, 3 daughters: Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth. All of these children are listed in the Chancery Cause, July Court, 1803-012. I do not have any children listed to John, son of John of Hanover. Thomas, not Thomas B, son of John of Hanover, m. Sarah Phelps and their children were: John, Elizabeth, James, Nancy, Wm P. and Thomas S. William, to whom the will of 1835 belongs, son of John of Hanover, m. Tabitha and their children were Thomas B, William H and Silas and possibly Jane, Mary and Sarah. So in answer to your question on the William who was one of the sons of John of Hanover, I think that his son Thomas B was named after his brother Thomas, because William did not have a !
brother named Thomas B.
Thirdly you asked: "What did I think of the posting by Betsi McKay. She is saying that the father of William C Carr of the will is named Thomas and they descended from a Walter and Susannah Carr in Baltimore, MD".
My answer: The will that Betse McKay sent to the board is Wm Carr of Halifax Co's will. Not Wm C Carr's. I don't know where the "C" could have come from. It is not in the will. I think that the Chancery Cause clearly shows that John Carr of Hanover was the father of John, Thomas and William of Hx Co VA. Based on the Chancery Record that I have, Ref. Loose Papers, HxCo Virginia, 27 April 1801 states: In 1801 Richard Johnson, husband of Elizabeth, one of John Carr's ( of Hanover Co) daughters, took her brothers John, William, and Thomas of Halifax Co VA to court to get a fair share of the estate of their father, John Carr's estate. John Carr died intestate. Also mentioned in this Chancery Record are John's daughters Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth, sisters of John Thomas and William.
You also asked: "How are you related to William C Carr of the will"?
My answer: I don't know a William C Carr, William Carr of the will is my husbands GGGG Grandfather.
I have tried to make this as clear as I can, but it is very hard to write these things. I hope that you can understand this. Please ask if you have more questions. I will be glad to help if I can.
I would like very much to have your information on Frances and Samuel Farmer and their children.
Keep in touch please,
Julia

In search of information regarding James M Carr enumerated on the 1860 Sevier County, AR census and the 1850 Marion County, Mississippi census.
James first married Harriet P. Barnes on March 5 1837 in Marion County, MS and 2nd married Sarah Ford on April 25, 1846. The 1850 census only lists his family by initials so I don't know the names of the children.
On the 1860 census, the Carr family was not present however, the enumerator wrote the following note on the census page "Called at dwellings house (illegible)all while family absent could not get names but got numbers. The name James M. Carr was written; age 45 Farmer; 40,000 real estate value; and 1000,000 personal estate value.
After the Civil War, there was a charge of treason against James Carr (I have a copy of the court case). There is also documentation on his chattel property in 1865, however he and his children seemed to have vanished after 1870.
Anyone with any information on this family, please respond to this message. Thank you.
Lyle

Hi Alan,
The question you posted at the end of your e-mail to the Carr Rootsweb
list today is very poignant. Many people who read your post may not
have the paper records to show a connection to Fenwick Carr. Another
way to identify other Carr families who may share your descent from
Fenwick and his male line progenitors is by using your genetic record.
The paternal line genetic record, your Y chromosome DNA, remains
essentially unchanged from Fenwick's, his brother's, his father's and
his father's brother's and so on for many generations before Fenwick.
All other male Carrs who descend father to son from these male Carrs
will also share the same YDNA genetic code. You can identify your
genetic code, at least the small portion we use to establish
genealogical connections, with a DNA test. The test is simple to do
for your part, just rub a swab on the inside of your mouth and return
the swab to a test lab for analysis. No medical or biologically
significant information is revealed by the test. The test only
provides a means to compare your genetic code with others for the
purpose of establishing the probability of a recent common male
ancestor. Once you have this record you can compare it to other Carr
families in the Carr Family DNA Genealogy Project to learn who your
genetic matches are. Your DNA record will link you to your ancestors
prior to written records as well.
The Carr Family Genetic Genealogy Project was set up specifically to
identify common paternal ancestry among Carr families (all phonetic
variations and origins) who may have lost contact over the generations
and in the process lost track of their common family history. More
information is available on our project websites.

tree here where others who share your family lineage may locate it
Our best resource is ourselves, working together to find our hidden
family history.
