Hi Julie: According to Arthur Carr Book written in 1948, Caleb Carr was born 23 Aug 1657 in Newport Rhode Island. He died in Jamestown on Conanicut Island, Rhode Island. According to that book Caleb married Deborah Sayles. She was born about 1656 and died about 1700. she was the daughter of John and Mary (Williams) Sayles. This makes her the granddaughter of the great Roger Williams. The had ten children. John Carr, was born 4 Jan 1681, First Name unknown, was born 16 Sep 1682, Mercy Carr born 7 Oct 1683, Benjamin Carr was born 31 Oct 1685, Daniel Carr was born 15 Nov 1687, Peleg Carr was born 14 Mar 1690, Deborah Carr date of birth unknown, Robey Carr date of birth unknown, Rachel Carr date of birth unknown, Sayles Carr was born 24 Nov 1696.
Caleb and Deborah were residents of Jamestgown. Whether they spent all of their lives on that island is not known. Ten children were born to them. Of the children not carried forward into Gen. IV the following data should be noted. Robey was twice married but thought to have been childless. Her husbands were Robert Hopkins of West Greenwich who she married on 16 Oct 1743 and John Noyes who she married on 1 Aug 1751. Information obtained in the Arthur Carr Book. Thanks for posting. He is not a direct line but I do have information on your Caleb Carr. The wife of Caleb who died in 1700 had a son Caleb three months after he died. That Caleb had two sons, Caleb and Benjamin. I am related to Benjamin whose daughter Susannah married Ichabod Foster in 1768 in Coventry, RI. My maiden name is Foster. Do you have any information on that line?

Nice to hear from you. There is much more information on your line than on mine, as Caleb had a son Caleb who was born after he died in 1700. I am related to that Caleb who had two sons Caleb and Benjamin. If you ever hear of anyone who has this connection, please let me know. Benjamin's daughter Susannah married Ichabod Foster. My maiden name is Julie Foster.

I am searching for links or information re Ellen Carr dob about 1830 Oxfordshire England. Her Fathers name was Richard. In 1865 Feb 6th Ellen Married Robert McClelland born in Ireland and a Sergeant in the Royal Artillery Aldershot England. I believe Ellen Carr,s siblings had some rather unusual names. I would so much like to contact any one searching this family of Carr,s.
In researching an article for Black History Month in Johnston, RI, where I
write and photograph for the local paper, I came across these CARRs,
listed in the rosters for the "Rhode Island 14th Regiment of Heavy
Artillery, Colored", from a book dated 1898:
I'm not sure, but they must be African-American, or of mixed race, and I
assume they are from RI, or were living in RI at the time of muster ...

Looking for connections to the CARRs in Duplin County, NC and Coahoma, MS.

Hi Evelynmarie: My line says that Benjamin died in England and never came to America. The reason Robert and Caleb came to America was because both Benjamin and his wife died leaving four children. Two came to American on the Elizabeth & Ann. This infomation came from Arthur Carr's Book. Mel Carr carmeltac(a)aol.com
