I found an obituary for Mary A. Carr (daughter of Matthew and Ann Carr). Mary died an old maid on February 23, 1918 according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, dated February 25, 1918. She is listed as the daughter of Matthew and Ann Carr (nee MOONAN).
So, Ann's maiden name was Moonan which makes sense since in the 1880 Census they are living with 2 boarders: Philip and Patrick Moonan which more than likely were Ann's brothers.Mary A. is listed as having lived at 2646 Memphis Street in Philadelphia, a parishioner at St. Anne's and was interred at St. Anne's Cemetery.
Woo hoo! I plan on checking with St. Anne's cemetery in hopes of finding more information.
Any connections now?
Hope to hear from someone soon.

UPDATE:
I found John's parents:
MATTHEW & ANN CARR. Matthew was born circa 1835/1834 in Ireland. He must have immigrated between 1850 and 1855. He is listed in the 1860 Census but he is living alone in Philadelphia, Ward 11, Division 1 and works in leather. The value of his personal estate is $1,000 so he has some money. His year old son John is not listed with him so I'm thinking he was born out of wedlock possibly and Ann was single or living somewhere in 1860 with young John and young Mary. By 1870, the parents are married and together at house #21 in Ward 8, District 24 in Philadelphia. Ann is listed as being born circa 1835 in Ireland and they have a few children in tow: John Carr (born February 1855), Mary (born August 1857), Bridget (born December 1860), Charles Carr (c.1864), Joseph Carr (born c. late 1866), Alice (born October 1867), and Theresa (born June 1869).
Matthew is listed as a plumber and Ann is listed as being unable to write. By 1880, Matthew is working at the coal wharf and is living at 1364 Thompson Street in Philadelphia.
Both Matthew and Ann die between 1880 and 1900 in Philadelphia.

Hello All,
I've reached a dead end of sorts. John CARR born February 1855 in Pennsylvania (possibly in Chester, Delaware, or Philadelphia Counties). His parents were both from Ireland. He married a lady by the name of Catharine/Cathren/Catherine, who was born in November 1852 (her parents were also from Ireland), and they married circa 1875 in Chester, Delaware Co., Pennsylvania. They lived in the South Ward of Chester at 731 Mary Street in 1880 and in 1900 they lived at213 Machion Avenue in Clifton Heights, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
They had 9 children: Rose Anne (born circa 1874/1875), James (born circa 1875/1876), Edward (born November 1876), Francis (born March 1878/1879), John (born July 1880), Thomas (born June 1883), Joseph (born Sept. 1885), Amy (born July 1886), William (born Oct. 1892) & Charles (born Nov. 1894).
Any help regarding John's ancestors would be most appreciated.
I've gone through nearly all of the census with no luck.
Take Care,

I am not related.
I collect old papers and like to post from them.
New York Semi-Weekly Tribune, Tuesday July 2, 1878
This is all that was published
This article is about a Cecil W. Carr, the heir of the Earl of Airlie arrested , his life in theis Counrty, wark as a journalist. His marriage and his quarrel with his father.
Someone spotted him and called him Lord Ogilvy.
It described him as dark complexion, medium height, slender figure, black hair, sprinked with gray, which comes low over his forehead. abt. 22 yr. old. He admitted to being Lord Ogilvy, son of the Earl of Airlie, He called his wife a child, and had left home. He met and married his wife in the south of Spain. He had left home 3 yrs. prior, saying he was joining his regiment in INdia. He had joined that regiment at the age of 17. Then he became quiet on his personal life. He said he arrivedin Boston on Sept. He worked at the Boston Courier. for small wages. The full name of Earl of Arlie is David Graham Drummond Ogilvy, and he was 52. His wife was Hon. Henrietta Blanche Stanle, daughter of Lord Stanley of Alderley. They had several children of whom David Stanley William, Lord Ogilvy, whom Mr. Carr now claims to be and whose right to the title for the present remains to be disproved is the third born child, born January 20, 2856. The elder children are are daughters. the est!
ates and the title are of course entailed and Lord Ogilvy is the rightful heir.
Interesting story, It is very long. about what transpired since he came to town and what he had done.
