DNA can at times point you in the right research direction to get around a roadblock. We now have a Carr surname project open to all variations of the name, that can with enough participants go a long way to do just that. (Find detours around roadblocks.) For information on DNA , and links to the project, and links to more information go to www.carr-genealogy.com/dna.html . In my case with only a limited return of the first twelve markers, it has eliminated one Carr line that migrated thru the smae towns and states as mine.

Looking for info on Mary Jane Carr, b. 1757 Md, d.1806 Ohio. 2nd marriage to Issac McBride. Isaac was said to have married his brothers widow, so it is assumed that Mary Jane married another McBride, possibly Andrew McBride. The family of Isaac moved on to Indiana after the death of Mary Jane. Any information on the ancestors of Mary Jane Carr will be appreciated.

"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Saturday, November 27, 1897
SEEKING A HOME FOR MAE CARR.
Mae CARR, 5-year-old daughter of William CARR, condemned
to be hanged at Liberty December 17 for the murder of his 3-year-
old daughter Belle, is in the city, in charge of Rev. E. A. POWELL,
a representative of the Children's Home society of Missouri.
CARR consented to the adoption of the child by the society a few
days ago, and the Rev. Mr. POWELL is anxious to secure for her
a home in a good family. Mae is a pretty and intelligent child, and
exhibits none of the traits of her inhuman father. She is said to
resemble very much her mother, who died two years ago, and who
was, according to her acquaintances, a woman of unusually lovable
traits of character.
Rev. E. A. POWELL will be in Kansas City for several days. He
may be seen at the office of D. ELLISON, Beals building, Ninth and
Wyandotte streets, president of the local branch of the Children's
Home society.

Wow I would love to have a copy of the marriage record. John and Louisa Carr's daughter Margaret (Maggie) married James F. McClure .Maggie and James moved to Kansas where they raised 8 kids. They are buried at Hugoton Cemetery in Stevens County, Kansas. I come from the McClure line. I know that Louisa's parents were Rufus banta (Bantee) and Margaret Osler(Omsler) I have them on Census records going back to 1850. in 1850 they are in Washington, Randolph, Indiana. In 1860 they are in Cedar, Benton, Iowa, I cant find them in 1870. in 1880 they are in grove, Pottawatammie, Iowa. Rufus died in 1881 and I am not sure when or where Margaret died, it was after 1880 but according to the internet web site she is not buried as a banta in Buckner Cemetery in Lincoln, Montgomery,Iowa. Rufus is buried there. According to the census records Rufus and Margaret had several childred who I also tracked on census records. Robert Banta born in 1844, Louisa, Constantine 6-15-1852 married Virginia!
Clatterbuck, Rufus born June1854 married Elizabeth Harcourt. Rufus and Elizabeth moved alot from Iowa to Louisiana to Oregon back to Louisiana in 1920 census. Amanda born abt 1856, Joanne born abt. 1861, Daniel abt 1865, and Martha abt 1868
I have a Presley Carr in my data base, but he is much older than this one appears to be. I also have Carrs throughout Indiana. (my Presley died in KS).

This is also my line. John and Louisa had a daughter Margaret Matilda Carr who married a McClure, and they lived in Kansas. I have had some luck finding info on Louisa's side. All the records I have found have been under the last name Banta. But I have not had any luck on the Carrs. From census records the 1880 there is 2 other Carrs living by John and if they are Johns brothers William has an older woman born in PA living with him. Her name is Matilda Carr lists her as a boarder. On the census records I have found on John they say his parents were from PA and he was born in Ohio. Do you have any info on Johns parents??
