Thank you so very much for so much good information. It is interesting that on BC Census info and on his marriage certificate he reduced his age, though it must be the same Andrew Carr as the marriage certificate shows born in Illinois with Darius and Thankful as parents. Plus his grave at the Vernon Cemetary shows born March 15, 1841. One correction though, Vital Stats in BC plus grave marker shows that he died March 11, 1910 not 1915.
Jessie Violet was a mystery to me. Her grave marker is beside Andrew's but there is no recorded history of her birth or short life. Her grave marker indicates she died March 4, 1907 not March 5. Thanks for confirming that she was their daughter - I had questioned it because of Agnes' age at the time of Jessie's birth.
If you have any old pictures, clippings of Andrew and/or his family, I would be happy to pay for them to be scanned and e mailed or copied and mailed. Thank you again. Penny

Hi Carr Researchers,
Does anyone have any info on the Felix Carr family from
Constantia Twp., Oswego Co., NY? The 1930 census listed
Felix as being 60, his wife, Anna (Ana) as 43, a son Felix A.
Carr age 27, and grandson, Esick C. Roberts at age 6.
The 1880 Census for Constantia Twp., has Felix Carr (the
father) in the household of his step-father, Wlliam Wooldrick
or Woolridge. Felix's mother's name then was Delphene or
Delphine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Wayne

Hi again,
The Darius you found on the Maine Census wasn't the same Darius who was the father of Andrew. You'll find Darius in McHenry Co IL on the 1860 census and then in Iowa (Cerro Gordo Co). I have a photo of his gravestone somewhere -- just have to dig it out. I think I also have some clippings that Vesta saved about him in BC. If I find them I'll post transcriptions.
Thankful died in 1860. My husband's great-great grandmother, Mary Donohue CARR, took care of the youngest child, Jehiel Spencer until Darius remarried in 1861.

From the Sixth Carr Family Annual, March, 1950:
Andrew CARR b. McHenry Co, Illinois, March 15, 1841; d. at Vernon, BC, March 11, 1915; married in November of 1901 to Agnes Kennedy (widow). Andrew lived with his parents in Illinois and Wisconsin until about a year after the death of his mother. Then on September 23, 1861, at Mineral Point, Wisconsin, he enlisted in the Union Army. He was a member of Capt. Whittlesay's Co. in the 11th Wis. Inf. This later became Co. E of the same Regiment. on February 12, 1864, he was honorably discharged. The following day he re-enlisted in the same Regiment as a Veteran volunteer. He gained the rank of Corporal and was finally discharged at Mobile, Alabama on September 4, 1865.
After the war, Andrew and his brother, Lyman, took a grading contract with the Union Pacific RR Co near where Green River, Wyoming now stands. Before the completion of this contract Andrew left his brother to finish the job and joined a group of soldiers going to the west coast. He liked the West so well that he remained there the rest of his life. for many years he lived alone on a farm near Vernon, BC. His marriage occurred late in life. His brother William and his wife visited them in Vernon before his death and after that event Mrs. Carr visited the family in the states. Andrew and Agnes had one child. This daughter lived to be but four years old, passing away on March 5, 1907. This daughter was: Jessie Violet Carr b March 15, 1903.
Andrew's parents were:
Darius Carr b 2/23/1813 near Albany, NY and Thankful SPENCER. Darius and Thankful had nine sons:
1) James Riley CARR, b 7/25/1838
2) Andrew CARR, b 3/15/1841
3) Lyman Carr, b 4/20/1843
4) Lafayette Carr, b 10/12/1845
5) Darius "Perry" Carr, b 2/21/1848
6) William Thomas Carr, b 5/20/1850
7) Franklin LeRoy Carr, b 6/12/1852
8) George Albert Carr, b 12/23/1857
9) Jehiel Spencer Carr b 5/23/1860
Even though the death dates are different, I'd bet this Andrew and the one you're searching for are the same. My husband's grandmother, Vesta (Carr) Kuns, collected photos news clippings and all family history items that she could up till her death in 2001. We have them now, but I'm still trying to sort them out. There are, literally, boxes and boxes to go through.

Kathy, thanks for your reply to my inquiry. The dates do not seem to match. My GGM Mary Ellen Carr(went by Ellen Carr or Ellen Kirkwood) was born in 1853 in Ireland and died in S Philadelphia in 1892.She married Hugh Kirkwood,my GGF in Ireland in 1868. They had a child Mary Jane born in 1869. They emigrated to the US in 1873. Hugh was some sort of seaman and later went on to be a Naval machinist at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Mary Jane died in 1884 in Philadelphia. There were six children in this family. The last one to die was Ellen Kirkwood in 1941 of some sort of cancer. To the best of our knowledge she never married and was the caretaker of the family history. This is what got us to this point. My GGF was a convert to Catholicism, probably in Ireland and in order to marry my GGM. It is assumed (discretely),that this was a shot gun type wedding. It seems as though GGF did not like to sleep alone as it is assumed that he sired a few other children in Ireland.
The family settled in S Philadelphia but all relocated to Fishtown,a goodly distance away for the times.
Would you know what parish your family memeber belonged to? The information gives me another place to look, but the dates don't jive, just yet. Thanks again, for your help. JIM
