I found this researching DRURY in Washington, D.C. I have no idea how the DRURYs mentioned here were involved as their testimony was simply overruled and the article doesn't say how they connected:
The Washington Star, April 26, 1883, page 1:
"The Anderson-Carr Homicide.
Trial of Joshua Anderson For Murder.
in the Special Criminal Court, Judge McArthur, yesterday, the trial of Joshua Anderson on an indictment for the murder of James Carr, on December 31st, 1861, was continued after our report closed. Thos. Love testified that he saw Carr on the evening of the homicide at the Circle, and that he said he would have Anderson's heart out before 10 o'clock. Richard Anderson testified that he met Carr at a brewery in July, 1881, and he said he would take Anderson's life before another year. Jos. Smith testified that on December 30th, 1881, he heard carr say 'There is one ---- ---- ---- that I am going to have revenge on, and that's John Anderson.' Carr had been drinking.
Testimony To-Day.
This morning L. E. Brown testified for the defense that he lived in Georgetown; that in November, 1881, he saw Carr in Georgetown, who said that the next time he saw Anderson he would do him worse than he did before. Carr was about 28 years fo age, a well-built man.
Mrs. Laura J. Pierce testified that the difficulty between Carr and Anderson was about March 28th, 1881. heard Carr say 'I can wolp you, Josh,' and then strike him.
Alexander Freeman, colored, testifed that in 1881, at the car sheds in Georgetown, he heard Carr say to Anderson, 'Never mind, I'll get even with you.'
Charles Griffin was sworn and was asked if he had found Anderson lying helpless from a beating about a year before the shooting, but the question was ruled out, an exception being noted.
Terrence Drury and Walter Drury were called, but their testimony was ruled out by the court.
John Currhey testified that in the latter part of May, 1881, Carr went to Anderson and said, 'Never mind, you --- --- ----, I'll fix you.'
L. A. Littlefield testified that Anderson had been watchman at the asphalt works, and he had a permit to carry a revolver, but had not been in his employ for a week or two before this occurrence.
Mr. W. A. Cook testified that the permit for Anderson to carry the pistol had been in his possession, but had been mislaid.
This closed the testimony, and a recess was taken till one o'clock.
Summing Up.
After recess, Assistant District Attorney Moore proceeded to sum up for the government, asserting that Anderson was the aggressor and continued firing until Carr fell, giving a shot as he departed the then dead man.
Mr. W. P. Bell, at 2:05 p.m., commenced his argument for the prisoner."

Gillie Carr is also buried in the Howell Valley Cemetary, West Plains. She died in the 1890's. 1880 census for Howell County, Mo I had found young William Carr living with family of Milton Rippee. Leonard had then remembered that he had heard his grandfather had been raised by some Rippee's. He was searching for what had happened to father of William B. Carr, George Washington Carr, when he e-mailed me for help I have Carr family background, but mine was Margaret Carr of Kentucky, who married John Donnelly. This family is very elusive, indeed. Website is www.howellcountymo.com and has alot of info on it

We have determined that William Benson Carr is the brother of Mary Lou Retta Carr (bSept. 3, 1870 d June 24, 1962) who married George Nathaniel Cordell (b May 27, 1868 d Feb 11, 1952) , son of James Wesley Cordell & Matilda Coldiron of West Plains, Mo. Mary Lou Retta Carr Cordell & George Nathaniel Cordell went to Tahlequah, Ok & then to Stratford, Ok where they reared 9 children. They both are buried in McGee Cemetery, Stratford. My mother in law (now 98) told me that William & Mary Lou Retta's sister, Gilla, died young in her early twenties w/o having married. I would suspect she is buried in the West Plains, Mo. area. She said Mary Lou Retta's mother died when she was young and she was reared by grandparents, and she thought their name was Johnson. This has been an elusive familly, I have not been able to find them listed in any census from 1850 to 2000. Would appreciate any further information.

Your Moses Carr could be part of a prominent Quaker Carr family that moved out of Md thru PA and OH, then down to NC, then to IN, then IL. Quakers at that time felt they should be a part of frontier life to help establish civilization there, hence moved about alot. As I recall Moses' father was Benjamin, and he had a brother Benjamin and Thomas; an earlier ancestor was Alexander back in Md.. If you Google Benjamin Carr you can pick up on this family. Moses was the earliest son; more is known of later family that were more active in Quaker history.
I have alot of files on this family if you think there is a plausible connection.

Have picture of William Benson Carr, brother to Mary Lou Retta Carr (Cordell), Gilla Carr & a photo that says Molly Brown Carr's sister Sally Griffin. Also photo of T. B. Carr, taken in West Plains, Mo (Howell Co). this says T. B. was the grandfather of Mary Lou Retta Carr (Cordell). She said her mother died young and she was raised by her grandparents. Have not been able to find anything on this Carr family, but sounds like there could be a connection here. Mary Lou Retta Car (Cordell) was born Sept. 3, 1870. Please reply.
I am looking for information on the following family:
George Carr and Polly Fuller Carr- He was born in 1803 in possibly Ontario
County, Lyons Township, NY, she was born in 1803 in Vermont according to Census
information. I found a George Carr in the 1810 census for Ontario County,
NY and also in the 1820 census for Ontario County, NY. I believe that this
is my George Carr but not sure. The next George Carr I find in the census
appears in 1840 in Cass County, MI which would be my George Carr as I know that
they came to Michigan in 1836 and settled in Cass County, MI.
George's father according to his death certificate found in Cassopolis, MI
was Charles Carr and his mother was Lydea Carr and it states that he was born
in NY. Polly's death certificate lists no parent names but says that she was
born in NY but the 1850 Cass County Census says she was born in Vermont, the
1850 census lists their names and 5 of their children, one of them being my
great-grandmother Lydia Carr Rifenbergh.
George and Polly's children are:
1. Thomas B. Carr (Tom) born 1833 in NY, lived in Fabius Township, St.
Joseph Cty. MI, married Emily then Hester, children: Charles Carr, William Carr,
Nyett or Wyett Carr, Salena Carr, Polly Carr and Arthur Carr
2. Mary Carr Preston born 1834/5 in NY
3. Lydia Carr Rifenbergh born 1838 in MI married Levi Rifenbergh, MY LINE
4. George Carr born about 1842, no information
5. Minerva Carr born 1844 in MI, married Ziba Huntington Evans had children:
Ansel Evens, Bertha Evans, (never married). She might have married Vic
Hassenger after Ziba's death.
6. Lucetta Carr Preston born 1848 in MI married William Preston, both are
buried in Sand Hill Cemetery near Jones, MI. Children: William Preston, Frank
Preston, Onie Preston, Charles Preston, Roy Preston, Fred Preston
Does any one recognize any of these names? I am interested in finding out
more about George & Polly's parents and their children. I will share whatever
information I have. I have been trying to locate where George & Polly are
buried as I live near Cass County Michigan but have not found that either.
Thanks,
Pat Townsend

Hello all, now that I have your attention. I am searching for some cavemen but since it was long ago and they didn't keep records I'm having to start somewhere else. At some point in time, around 1856 my gr gr grandfather David Carr was born. David was of Choctaw descent and had a brother named Charley or Charley. David lived the majority of his life and raised his 10 children in the Creek Nation I.T area.( Later Mcintosh County Oklahoma )
Charlie was said to have lived in the Choctaw Nation and had a son named Oscar. I'm sure at some point in time a caveman or woman mixed with another and another and later became a Native American who mixed with someone from some tribe who mixed with some tribe...It would be nice to know from what Tribe or Band the family orginally descended from but I would just like to know my family. I seem to be having the same problem on my fathers parternal and maternal side of the family. Whether my family was on the rolls or not doesn't really make a difference to me at this point in time. I just would like to get passed the hide the fact your indian due to the way they were treated as mixed blood or weren't allowed to own land as Indian's. Any hep with the Family name of Carr would be greatly appreciated.
sincerely,
A Caveman descendent
