Shirley,
I'm very interested in your Walter Carr, specifically his son, James, as I'm looking for the parents of a James Carr born between 1751-1756. He had a daughter who was born 1779 in VA and was appears in Washington Co. TN court records in the early 1780s. Other Carrs listed during this time period include John Carr, Sr., John Carr, Jr., Job Carr, Margaret Carr, Mary Carr, Patrick Carr, Thomas Carr, and Walter Carr. (Washington County, TN Court Records, FHL Microfilm #825510)
A James Carr appears on a list of soldiers in Robert Doaks Company of Militia who participated in the Battle of Point Pleasant, on October 10, 1774. The soldiers marched to Camp Union, now Lewisburg, West Virginia. Also listed in this company are a George Carr, William Carr and John Carr.
My James Carr owned land that bordered the land of Samuel Carr in Blount Co. TN in the early 1800s. He died in Rhea Co. TN in 1810 and the estate sale mentioned many purchases by Samuel Carr and a debt owed by Jonathan Carr to the estate.
So many of the same names as those of the sons of Walter Carr occur in connection with my James and my James was in VA in 1779.
Please contact me as I would like to further exchange information with you.

I know we have discussed Sanford Ackermans before. Who do you think this is? Do you think the Sanford Ackerman b 23 dec 1803,son of Abraham Ackerman and Catherine Trim are his parents? There is room for him to have had a 1st wife; especially since he had a son named Abraham and a son named Sanford. What can you tell me about this Abraham and Sanford?
Also what information can you give me concerning mary Davenport and her parents?
It would appear that The Ackerman Family Vol. II is in error concerning the marriage of Amy Maria Ackerman b 5 Seo=p 1828 to Daniel Carr. Amy Maria Ackerman was the sister of Sanford Ackerman.
Lets compare information again via email

At this point I don't have a connection for you. I've just recently gotten my Carr/Kerr/Karr bunch back to the New River area in Wythe Co., VA.
I know they went from there to Washington Co., TN, then into GA and most likely back across the SC line to Pendleton Dist., SC where I find a George Carr in 1800. He is next found in Franklin Co., TN where my Holder line went when they left Pendleton Dist., SC in 1811. Definitely a wandering family.
Before my Carr family was in Wythe Co., VA according to a 1772 list of tithables for Captain Doack's company my Carr's, Walter and his sons John and William and George, were in Botetourt Co., VA. No incication they were in NC.
Would love to know who Walter's father was??

Recently found my George Carr b 1746 New Jersey was a son of Walter Carr. Information on them was from deeds, etc. in Wythe Co., VA and Jonesborough, Washington Co., TN. Also from "The Early Adventures on The Western Waters" Vol III, Part 1 by Mary B. Kegley.
Walter Carr (Kerr) lists heirs, George, John, James, Samuel, Walter, Jr., Jonathan, Rachel wife of Jacob Eden, Mary wife of Randal Rutherford, and Susannah wife of John Nichols. (Wythe County Order Book 1801-1805, entry dated February 10, 1802)
Information suggests the family came into Wythe Co., VA from Botetourt (Augusta) Co.
Is this your Walter Carr?
Do you have information on them from 1773 backwards?
