Zachary Taylor Carr is my great-granduncle -- My great-grandparents are
William Chapman Shields and Amanda Ann Temperance Carr. A large contingent
of my relatives moved from GA & AL to Hunt County, TX in the 1870's. I
have a transcription of my grandfather's wedding announcement (Charles
Judson Shields) from 1891 and one of the attendants at the wedding was a
Zona Carr. I believe that Zona is Zachary's daughter, but I cannot find
Zachary in the 1880 census in Hunt County, TX. Zona is listed in a family
headed by Ezekiel CARR and some of the facts are correct for this to be
Zachary, but not all of the information in the census supports this
conclusion. Does anyone have information that will help me fill in the
blanks for Zachary Taylor Carr and Mary Gentry Comer's descendants? I do
know that Zachary and Mary both lived into the 1940's, making them 90+.
I also know that William Columbus Carr ( m. Sarah Virginia Shields) lived
in Hunt County, TX and I think that Sicily Missouri Carr (m. George Albert
Hall) also lived in the area, but I have not been able to find any trace of
her in Hunt County, TX so far.
Thank you for any help that you might be able to provide.

I just noticed a couple of John Carrs in that Dade Co. MO. Families book - Abraham & Amanda named one of their sons John Baptist Carr, born 3/1885. There is also a John B. Carr, s/o John C. Carr & Amanda - who marr Mary A. Freedle. There is John C. Carr, born 1830 MO who marr Amanda V. Scott. One of his children is names William H. I'll check around for Womack connections.

All I have on Benjamin is from the Census record that he was born abt. 1815 in TN, as was his wife. I have not found a Womack connection yet, but there were Womacks around in Dade Co. as well, so who knows. You know how you can't always TRUST Census records to be correct. According to the book "Dade Co. Missouri Families", Benjamin's other children besides Abraham who is born 1848 TN, are Mary born 1843 TN, John born 1845 TN, William born 1853 TN. My Abraham names one of his children Benjamin Harrison (I believe the Harrison comes from Amanda's Stanley roots as her father's name was Jonathan HARRISON Stanley) There are no other Carr people of the right age to be sibs with Benjamin, so he may have come alone to MO with others from TN also moving west. If you uncover anything new, please contact me, and I'll do the same. Thanks for your speedy reply. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Peter and Mary Goodwin were . They had a child in San Fransisco in 1856. I have no idea when they were married. Mary Goodwin Carr Murphy was born 1828 in Tyrone Ireland and died in Ashland. She married John Murphy in 1858 and they lived in Ashland Oregon. She said she was a widow withe one child. I am trying to find out what happened to Peter and more about him. As they lived in San Fransisco it is not easy because of the Earthquake. If anyone can help me that would be great I need idea's. I don't know how they got to SF weather by land or sea. Or how old and where Peter was from spelling of the name is usually Carr but once in awhile is Kerr.
