Thomas, my mothers brother. You see how easy it is to mess up a name. I had to read a lot of back emails to find some of the information on the Carrs. Grandpa thomas ( Lonnie) on his note to my mother also had it Mary jane, and all the info we have had since, said Mary Jane. Whew, glad you found it., now a new copy for the files. Love to all, give Roberta a big hug from me, and a big old slobbery kiss for Dusten, LOL....Love, Mary.

Has anyone been to Ireland to research the CARR family? My people Michael
Carr and his wife Ellen Melrooney came from Headford county Galway. Michael
died and Ellen and her children headed to Canada and then to Bristol, IA .
John Carr, Ellen's son was my g grandfather and he farmed there with his
brother Michael. They also ran a hotel there with their sister Julia and
mother Ellen.
Would I fly into Dublin? How far is Headford from Dublin?
Anyone researching the CARRs in Iowa?
Thanks

At one time I was told that Reuben Carr and Susannah Miles who married in
Versailles in 1807 were part of my family. Now I am told that they
cannot be.
Their families moved on to Shelby and Franklin Cos. If you have more
info
on the Woodford Co Carrs, I would sure like to know about it. The Miles
family was from Versailes prior to 1790. Their son, Preston Carr was
married to Elizabeth Jane Johnson, but that was in Shelby Co, and they
only
had 2 children, Silas and Jones/James Carr. Reuben and Susannah had 3
other sons, one I have no name for, and two with no wives.

Hi... Does anyone know any information about Phoebe Elizabeth Carr who married my great, grandfather in Kings Norton c 1893 (awaiting marriage certificate for exact date)...
She gave birth to a boy called Frederick (who married a Liz and settled in Coventry having 4 children - Fred, Dan, Ron and Audrey) for whom I can find no information... (I believe he was killed by falling from a cliff possibly near Dover, many years ago!)
She then gave birth to my grandfather Reuben Hancox 22.08.1896 (All Saints, Birmingham) but I assume she died sometime after this... Family folklore says he then married her (twin?) sister and had a further child James Edward Hancox born 13.07.1912 also in Kings Norton.
I have tried finding information on the net but drawn a blank...
*** Does anyone know when/ where Phoebe Elizabeth Carr was born and/or died and similar details for her sister/twin sister, first name unknown...?
*** Does anyone know birth, marriage or death details for her child Frederick born between the marriage in 1893 and my grandfathers birth in 1896?
*** Does anyone have details of the second marriage to Phoebe's sister?
His 3rd wife was Mercy and he fathered a further 7 children with Mercy before he died on 6th Jan 1939...
Any help or advice you could offer would be gratefully received...

Good morning,
The majority of my ancestors came over from "Britiain" to the Massachusetts
Bay Colony in the early 1600's. But, among my "blood lines" that I so far
know about, none yet came over on the "Mayflower" in the 1620's But, many
did come over with "the Winthrop Fleet" in the 1630's. .. For those
people "on the other side of the big pond" .. I think you will be
pleasantly surprised if you go to www.google.com and do a search for
the "Massachusetts Bay Colony." Some examples are:
http://members.aol.com/ntgen/hrtg/mass.htmlhttp://www.sims.berkeley.edu/academics/courses/is182/s01/assignment1hp.html
I don't want to bring up "the Revolutionary War," as that was .. like 150
years later! But, the conditions the early "pioneers" found themselves in
.. in the 1600's is quite interesting reading. One example is the
well-known story (in USA) of Anne Marbury HUTCHINSON, the religious
activist.. William and Anne Hutchinson desired to "go to the New World."
But, they had many children, and, when it came time to "sail," Anne was
pregnant again. So, they sent their oldest son and William's brother over
on the ship to find them some property and build a house for the large
family to live in. The following summer the rest of the family sailed.
They left a pretty house with a pretty garden and a "white, picket fence,"
etc. When Anne Hutchinson got to the New World .. and saw the very
rustic Log Cabin in the middle of the deep, dark woods .. which had been
built for her, she sat down and cried! (From a children's book I read
on her life.)
Simon Bradstreet, John Winthrop, and Governor Hutchinson (not related) are
all mentioned in the "on-line histories" of the Mass. Bay Colony.
To get back to CARR, a reminder that both CARR's and KERR's probably "came
over" during every century. So, just like the Hutchinson's, it is very
difficult to "connect the dots" genealogically speaking. For instance, I
am descended from two of our KERR siblings who might have come from a CARR
family in or near County Sligo, Ireland. They left Ireland in 1825 to
migrate to Canada. They were born in Ireland from 1795 to 1805, and
might have had many other siblings. But, many researchers cannot locate
them. Nor can we locate the names of their parents. Their names
were: Mary, Patrick, Elizabeth, and John.
(Two of the KERR siblings had married into a HENDERSON family in Ireland.)
(Reportedly, the KERR families were originally from Scotland, but may have
moved to Ireland during the mid-1700's.)
