Hi, Julia -
Great work finding Julia A. Carr in the census.... our fellow CARR
researcher Pat Noble found a marriage record for her sister:
from an index of RI CARR marriages by bride, 1886-1900:
Surname, first name Surname, first name bk pg ct date
CARR, Emma L. Barrett, John A. 89-441-28 10/19/1889
Pat Noble takes all this info and pieces the CARR families together in his
online database - he'll be happy to have more info on the family.
I just checked the "RI Historical Cemeteries Database Index" online, and
found these matching names for the family you found:
CARR, ISAIAH 1824c - 27 JUL 1880 CY087
CARR, BRIDGET 1837c - 12 OCT 1889 CY087
These are in the same cemetery:
CARR, CATHERINE 1875c - 8 SEP 1876 CY087
CARR, DANIEL BUDLONG 1798c - 24 FEB 1869 CY087
CARR, ISAIAH, JR 1858 - 1924 CY087

I think I'll take a ride sometime to look for these graves - perhaps they
will give more details on these two CARR families ...
It must be strange to hear about your exact name being on a gravestone!
Are you researching CARRs of RI and MA?? My CARR ancestor John Henry Carr
came from Ireland to Topsfield, MA, and his son John James Carr settled in
Providence, RI around 1900. My paternal grandmother was Bertha (Carr) Hogan
(1896 - 1977).
Perhaps we can find someone descended from the Isaiah Carr family, and share
what we've all found.

Information from some sources posted on the net show the husband of
Patience Beals , Benjamin Carr, as born in 1743 While other sources posted
show him born in 1764 These are Quakers--
it seems fairly certain that Patience's Ben was the Son of Thomas
Carr, a contemporary of her father, and that Thomas was born in 1731 which
would eliminate the 1743 date for Benjamin Carr.
Can you pinpoint Patience's husband, and can you locate another
Benjamin Carr born 1743, also in New Garden MM NC. ??
Thank you very much for any help you can provide. The Rev. Walter

This is in response to Beth Hurd's entry for VO2#171 Sept 18th regarding
Julia A. Carr's grave.
After searching the 1880 Census, I found Julia A. Carr age 24 and Frank E.
Carr living in the household of her mother and father. Also listed with the
family is Emma L. Carr who is her sister and possibly the one buried beside
her in the Woonsocket Historical Cemetery. The following family group listed
in Coventry, Kent, RI in the 1880 census including Emma L. and Julia A. is:
Isaiah Carr self age 55 b. RI

Nellie Carr age daughter 10 b. RI
Louise Carr daughter age 9 b. RI
Daniel Carr son age 8 b. RI

Looking for information on SUMNER CARR 1839-1909, and his family. Think his father is AMOS CARR, 1813-?, and wife Charlotte (don't know her last name). I have found little on Amos and Charlotte. Also WILLIAM MOORE CARR, 1779-?, and his wife EUNICE GITCHELL, 1786-?,
I think AMOS CARR might have had another son named Enis Carr. Anyone know?
After Sumner Carr. . . .generations 3 through 8 . . . for this family line I believe. . . have the given name of either WILLIAM or GEORGE with wives names. . . Julia Davenport, Elizabeth Codle, Rosannah Carr, Mariam Goldthwaite, and Susan Rothchild.

I am looking for information on Dabney Kerr and his family. Dabney was born
1770-1775, possibly in Cumberland Co., VA and died 1840-1850 in Raccoon
Twp., Gallia, OH. He married Elizabeth A. Dodson on December 22, 1794 in
Cumberland Co. She was born bet. 1775-1782 in VA and died bet. 1850-1860 in
Gallia Co., OH. Dabney appears on the 1810 Cumberland Co. census as Dabney
Keer.
There is a Dabney Kerr residing in Charlotte Co., VA on both the 1820 and
1830 census returns for that county. There was also a John Kerr residing in
Charlotte Co. I do not know if this is the Dabney Kerr I am looking for, as
the number of sons is repeatedly less than the number that reached
adulthood. Any thoughts?
It appears Dabney and Elizabeth moved to Gallia Co., OH shortly after 1830.
Their son, Edward D. (Dabney?) Kerr m. Jane Swanson on December 06, 1832 in
Gallia Co. Dabney was living next to his son, Edward D., on the 1840 census
for Gallia Co. Dabney did not appear on the 1850 census, but his widow,
Elizabeth A. Kerr, was residing in the household of their son, William.
Dabney and Elizabeth Kerr's children moved to Decatur Co., IA after 1860,
where their last name was changed to Carr.
Their children:
1) William H. Kerr b. 1804 in VA; d. 1870-1880 in New Buda Twp., Decatur,
IA; did not marry
2) Edward D. Kerr b. 1806 in VA; d. 1850-1860 in Raccoon Twp., Gallia, OH;
m. Jane Swanson on December 06, 1832 in Raccoon Twp., Gallia, OH
3) Lorrenzo "Low" Kerr b. 1810 in VA; d. after 1880 in Morgan Twp., Decatur,
IA; did not marry
4) Jane Kerr b. 1811 in VA; d. February 05, 1891 in New Buda, Decatur, IA;
m. James W. Comer on November 10, 1837 in Raccoon, Gallia, OH
5) Nancy G. Kerr, b. 1820 in VA; d. after 1880 in Morgan, Decatur, IA; did
not marry
6) Elizabeth Kerr, b. 1828 in VA; m. S? Burton ca. 1847.
It is very possible I have confused Dabney Kerr with another Dabney
Kerr/Carr. Clarification or additional information is greatly appreciated!

Dear saeckelche --

copy my email reply to the group as well as the old email address.
I found that Dick Cazier has a site at Rootsweb's World Connect Cazier &
Related Families which deals with your line and seems to have more details
than I have. See dcazier database at World Connect.
Larry Baker also has a Rootsweb World Connect site with Seth G Carr. The link
there seems to be Sally Baker. Baker,Carter,Cazier, Marble and related
Families is contained in the database 1802956.

Sorry Kelley, I don't know where members of the CARR family moved to. Most of my line stayed right in the Waddington, NY area, and the majority of them are buried in Brookside Cemetery, Waddington.

Looking for information on Seth G. Carr who married Mary M. Siler 20 April 1847 in Moultrie County, Illinois. Both could have been born in Shelbyville, Illinois, but I'm not positive. I don't have birth or death dates for them. The information that I do have comes from the death cert. of their son and my GG grandfather Colbert Nelson Carr b: 19 Sep 1855 in Shelbyville, Illinois. d: 7 April 1940 in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Colbert married Margaret M. Wilson in Carrollton, Missouri, I don't know when. They had 5 children: Mary Jane, Annabelle, Frank Forest, John Seth, Stella Mae (I'm not sure of the order).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Searching missing information : George Shearman Carr married Eva May Smith in 1926 and previously married Augusta Petreaus. George and Augusta had 4 children(3 girls and 1 boy) Would like to know more abt their families. George S. Carr's father was
GEORGE WHITMORE CARR( 1851 - 1921 )
who married EMILY SMITHERS (1854 - 1930 ) in 1873 at Brooklyn , NY. I would like to know where she was born. George W. Carr's father was WILLIAM PATRICK CARR (1821-1861) who was born in CO. Kilkenny, IR.. He married ELIZABETH ARTHUR FRENCH in 1848 at Antrim, IR. I do not know where either of them died. Thanks to help from others, I have some info back several generations, but it is not complete. Hope someone is interested in this line. Thank you.
