Dear Bette:
The answer to the children of this John Carr can be found in V. 3 pp.208-209 of
the Virginia Historical Magazine in an article by Garland Carr Broadhead entitled,
"The Carr Family.". I don't have the exact date but it was sometime in the late
1890's. Their genealogical articles have also been reprinted in a combined volume
which should be available at any decent genealogical library. I urge you to
consult them.
But to answer your question, the above cited article has a transcript of a "Family
Bible" -type record kept by John Carr, listing (apparently) all of the family
births and deaths. In it are these two entries:
"James Carr, son to John and Barbara Carr, born 20th August 1740, died 6th
September following.
"James Carr, son of John and Barbara Carr, born 15th November, 1741, departed
this life 10th of October, 1747." Thus he was almost six years old at death.
Further useful information on this Carr family can be found in the William and
Mary College Quarterly, July 1899, pp. 106-108 in a piece by Col. Wilson Miles
Cary called simply, "Carr Family.". The early William and Mary genealogical
articles have also been gathered into a single volume and reprinted. Both
collections are indispensable to anyone doing colonial Virginia research.
Best wishes and good luck.

The Endsley Family In The New World by: John D. Endsley
Has a little info on a Zipporah Elliott md: 18 Mar 1856
md: Thomas Karr, a son of John Welch and Mariah (Gillespie)
Karr. Children: John Harrison b: 1860; Guy Eugene b:
1862; Tommy Elliott b: 1867; Melissa jane b: 1869;
Ray Gillespie b: 1871 and Dora Bell Karr b: 1873 (all
born Coshocton Co.
Some how through the Elliott surname and in a book: THE
FAMILY TREE KARR (it list.)
That Zipporah Elliott -- parents: Thomas C. & Margaret
(Morehead) Elliott. I just can not follow the way the
family is written up. But thought it might help some one.
Went back through old correspondance and can add a little bit about my John
Carr:
He was a Revolutionary soldier of NC - p. 513 - NC Roster of Rev. Soldiers.,
Wilmington District. no.985 NC Military Abstracts from the Army Accounts of
NC Line. State Record of NC vol XVII (1781-1785)
John Carr married Mary Campbell. Their daughter, Mary Campbell Carr married
Nathan Davis. Nathan was much older than Mary, so her family objected to
their marriage and they eloped. She was 16 years old, b. in 1784.
Can anyone add any parents, siblings, children, locations?
Thanks,
Linda D.
